Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe bedrooms were getting gruby and could do with an upgrade. The bathroom also in need of deep clean and upgtade. Didnt find any lifts, so baggage movement is a problem, especially for aged people.
Staff were brilliant. Good breakfast and the location next to the hodpital was great as we were visiting sick relatives.

United KingdomThe car park hedges need cutting, they obscured to view around the corner when driving out. The toilet water would not stop running in the pan. There were peanuts under the bed from a previous guest. I had to move the bed over to put my phone in the plug socket and still reach it from the bed. The room was pricey for what was in it, I have paid less for better coffee equipment and better complimentary drinks and fridge. It was quite noisy both in and outside the hotel late into the night. The QR menu system did not help with ordering food and room service, it just was not easy to navigate, so I did not bother.
Close to the hospital.

United KingdomThe bed was massive but sadly the bed linen was tired, thin and didn’t fit the duvet cover. Just didn’t feel cosy and comfy. Not nearly as good as another well known hotel chain. We had a meal in the restaurant, service was excellent but the quality of food was not. The pizza my daughter ordered was especially bad, I’ve had better frozen ones. Drinks were expensive - but to be expected in a hotel.
Lovely reception, great staff and modern bar / restaurant area. Parking is good but there is a charge due to location. Hotel is modern and clean. Pool area is well managed and very clean. Specific pool access times for children.

United KingdomMy room was on the lower level (-1) right by the emergency exit. I was not expecting that and believed I had asked for a room with a view at the time of the booking however the room was clean and beds comfortable so I did not mention it to reception. Breakfast was included in the price but having dinner at the hotel for two nights was very pricey for two people - it was almost the same price I paid for the booking!
There were areas to relax, do work or even eat around the hotel. Customer service was excellent as expected at Holiday Inn. Food in the restaurant was good. Good to know spa access was available but I didn't use it on this visit. A good sized TV with You Tube and Netflix options available. The pancake maker in the breakfast area was a bonus for my daughter and the buffet breakfast was very good with various options.

United KingdomUnfortunately, the casting service in my room kept cutting out so I couldn't enjoy watching programmes at night in my room: This was a really big appeal for me, but the internet kept cutting out. The room was also quite cold. I find that using a A/C and heater combination often blows cooler air, even when the temperature is turned up! So, I wasn't always comfortable in the room. I female changing room showers had an infestation of small black flies. It was extremely off-putting, and unpleasant to see. There were flies surrounding all of the inside of the cubicles. So, it was an inconvenience to use the showers in my room after a swim, rather than using the spa's own facilities. Furthermore the shower area did smell of urine quite a few times. The area should have been kept cleaner by the staff. This was a shame as the as I enjoyed using the other spa facilities in the hotel.
The Room was very large, clean and had everything! The staff were extremely friendly and attentive! The breakfast and dinner was very tasty indeed and the spa facilities were good overall!

NetherlandsThe rooms and especially the bathrooms are dated and old.
Good location close to Surrey University and Cathedral. Indoor pool, jacuzzi, Turkish bath and sauna (with no extra charge). Quiet rooms and comfy beds. All rooms are on the ground floor. No stairs or lift. There always seems to be enough parking spaces, but I don't know how this would be during busy times (e.g. summer weekends).
