Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOnly that it doesn't have its own parking, but it's not a problem!
Lovely comfortable and clean home with all the facilities you need for an enjoyable stay. Central to explore lots of Peak district beauty spots and attractions.

United KingdomThe only downside was it’s up a steep hill from Matlock, which might make it difficult for anyone with mobility issues. Also there was no parking nearby. We were happy to stay near the property, making use of the local pubs.
Hygge House was lovely and clean, it looked like it had been refurbished very recently. The furniture and fittings were all lovely and the beds were new and extremely comfortable. A very good power shower. A bottle of red wine was there on our arrival and milk, tea and coffee provided. There were 2 very good pubs nearby, which were very friendly and an excellent pizza takeaway and fish and chip shop. It was close to Matlock town centre.

United KingdomThere was no parking at the property but it wasn’t really much of a problem as there was parking opposite for an hour so unloading and loading was just across the road. Parking could be found nearby in other streets easily.
The property was immaculate when we arrived. Decor beautiful. Comfortable beds. Automatic on off lights in bathroom and toilet. USB ports in sockets in kitchen were a lovely added touch. It was just perfect. A bottle of wine and a pint of milk from the owner to greet us again a lovely touch.

Everything, it’s like home from home. Perfectly decorated with a calming atmosphere throughout. The property was extremely clean and had everything you could want or need. The location is excellent right over the road from a lovely little microbrewery and a short walk down to the amazing town, also walks and bike tracks. And what I loved the most is the house has a bath and shower, perfect for a soak after a long day of exploring.

United KingdomThe property is at the top of a very very steep hill so my 70 year old mum found it difficult to walk back up from town. It’s not a reflection on the property itself, but something for others to bear in mind if travelling with people less mobile.
The property was clean and had the right amount of space for me and my husband, my mum, my brother and my dogs!

United KingdomThe house is gorgeous, the pictures don’t do it justice. It’s in a great location, we walked into and out of the town fine - the hill is steep but it’s a quick walk. Parking was no issues for us as there’s no restrictions on weekends, so we got both cars parked right outside our whole stay. The hosts were very accommodating and let us stay a couple hours longer on check out day which was really appreciated. Spacious house, we were 5 adults and a greyhound and was plenty of room for us all. Comfy beds, beautiful furnishings, plenty of cutlery / crockery, dishwasher felt like a home from home. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend and come back 😊

United Kingdom-
Met our expectations and more. Christmas tree and decorations were up which was lovely. The house was spotless and the owners were very thoughtful as we were met with wine and milk. The lack of driveway parking wasn’t an issue as there is parking nearby. We had a beautiful Christmas day. Thank you.

United KingdomMy daughter struggled to open the bathroom lock one morning, and we had a bit of a panic trying to get here out of the bathroom, although it was all ok in the end. The lock is quite stiff to open. Otherwise, everything was absolutely great, and we really enjoyed our stay. Parking in central Matlock is difficult. However, the on-street parking situation around Hygge House was easier than we had expected, although only 1 hour allowed between 8-6pm (but you could also park across the main road for 1 hour between 9-5pm), so between those two options, we managed fine, especially as we were out and about exploring the Peak District each day. We had assumed we might need to pay for the nearby DDDC Bank Road car park, but actually didn’t need to use it at all, in our case.
Fabulous property - a really spacious, comfortable base for exploring the Peak District. We were there at New Year, and loved the fact there were decorations and a tree as well! It made it feel really festive, even though we were out of season. A very well equipped kitchen. We also really appreciated the bottle of wine and fresh milk that had been left for us. The house had clearly been recently decorated and furnished to a lovely standard.

United KingdomThe owner uses passive sensors in the bathroom, so they activate when the see movement and then go off after the timer is done even if you’re still in the bathroom. The owner should switch to active sensors. They actively check for activity before shutting off the lights
Went there for hiking and traveling anywhere required a bit of exercise
