Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomLack of towels, only one bath towel so we had to share. No tea towel in the kitchen to dry the dishes.
The bed was super comfortable which was a bonus. The room was bright and airy. Great location for exploring the Brecon Beacons.

United KingdomSooo... As I am a light sleeper, I could not work out the noise.. i could hear this hummming noise... was it fridge? What was is it?! The only bad thing I can say about this place was the humming sound which I think came from the bathroom fan above the bed... not much sleep for me. Maybe there was a switch to turn it off? Don't be expecting views as such, hotel pub garden is in your view. Just close the curtains. However, it's a lovely little place.
The room was lovely and warm. I brought extra blankets as I like to snuggle up and sometimes I find I can get cold during the night... this room was spot on. Cute little room/kitchen/living room in one. Lovely bathroom too. I first booked the room with the patio on the GF, however as I had to change my stay to one night only, I was given another room on the GF. Which was fine as the room with the patio is better for somebody who is staying two nights or more. No issue there. Also, my two ginger boys (Hungarian vizslas) were staying with me and there was enough room for their crate. Great location to Pen y Fan, 20 minutes drive. If you are traveling with a dog (s) make sure they are wee/poo trained and sleep throughout the night as there is no direct access to a garden/ open field area. If your puppy needs a wee in a middle of the night, you will have to get dressed, go out on the main road and into the car park. However, at the end of the car park, there is a great open area for the dogs, which is spot on. It's fenced off and big enough to do their business before you head to Pen y Fan. You can park right in front of the place, however it might take you a few "driving around" before a space is available. Also, you are not in a country side, you are next to a few take aways shops and local premier inn...

This is the third or fourth time I've stayed at James' Place. It is an excellent base for all the outdoor pursuits that the area offers. It is handy for a range of amenities.

United KingdomI was in apartment 2 and the heating is via an air con type system with a vent above the bed and a little control panel on the wall. It was super noisy and couldn't be switched off, and I really struggled to sleep with the noise.
Spotlessly clean Really great facilities considering the extremely reasonable price. Free parking right behind which was super convenient. Little choccies left on the bed. Lovely touch.

United KingdomThe local town seemed very closed. Most places that said open on Google were closed with shutters down. So not much to eat etc in local area. However we did walk to the nearest larger town and had a lovely time in the local pubs.
Loved the top floor views. Spacious apartment with everything you needed.Good jumping off spot for local drives to walks etc.

United KingdomThere was an unpleasant smell which may have been caused by the drainage system? And not as warm as I would have liked but can understand issues about cost of living prices.
The property was very stylish clean and well equipped. Unfortunately just travelling for work so didn’t get a chance to explore the views.

United KingdomThis is only feedback to improve as I can see so much thoughts gone in to the place already. To go from a 9 to a 10 just few things would help. 1. More light in the room, even with the main light on we couldn’t see well. Perhaps a free standing light would help. 2. Some coat hanging pegs so the chairs done get covered in coats. 3. The doubles a small double which felt a little to small. A bigger bed would be a huge game changer. Merthyr is what it is - you know that when when your booking but the location for hill walks are great.
Perfect for the walking weekend we wanted away. It’s close to the hills, easily accessible from the south east. The room set up was great. Shower worked well, fun clean decor. Room felt really clean Very fresh and well thought out - Amazing value for money and would use again.

United KingdomI wasn't keen on what I saw of Merthyr Tydfil but as I said previously it is close to gorgeous countryside and there were lots of shops from what I saw- to pick up grocery's and other bits and bobs. There are two or three takeaway places within a few years and a convenience store but we went to m&s for a bigger shop which was a short drive away.
James' Place is very close to some beautiful walks and the recommended drive and pubs were wonderful! Absolutely stunning waterfalls. We were visiting family in the valleys so the property location was ideal. We didn't go into Merthyr tydvil too much, so I can't really comment on it. It seems very industrial and not at all pretty but there are lots of handy shops and the countryside close by is lovely. The staff we met were really lovely.

United KingdomThe sofa / sofa bed in the living area wasn't very comfortable to sit and rest your back against the poles and could of done with a lamp when watching T.V as the lights reflected on the T.V. It needed a seat in the porch to put your shoes on and off.
It was quirky and had well equipped kitchen/ kitchenette. It was also nice and warm.
