Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The noise from the kitchen below (door slamming, water running - until late [past 11pm] and very early [6.15am] Awkward location for the plugs but survived :) No spoon for the tea/coffee in the room
Very welcoming host who let us choose our room. However, had we known the one we chose was just above the kitchen, we would have opted for the other one Comfortable bed Very nice shower Lovely breakfast and breakfast room Great car park

It was perfect.
I love this place. I booked it last minute as I got a late start to my drive up north and didn’t get as far as I was hoping, but my stay here was a pleasant surprise and I’m so glad I got to stop here. Incredibly clean, comfortable, with clear thought put into providing anything a guest might want. Breakfast was delicious, and the view out the window while eating provided a great start to the morning. I would gladly go out of my way to stay here again.

Can't really think of anything really except for the bathroom was a bit small.
Liked it because it is located not far off of the M6 and yet not far from Ullswater lake. The owners were very pleasant, helpful making you feel welcome. . We stayed for 2 nights. We had a lovely break.

Another time I would book a double room as I found the single room very compact,
Breakfast was excellent. Being able to sit in the breakfast room to eat something I had brought back in the evening was also very welcome. The host was incredibly helpful. There were lots of (very well behaved) four legged guests and for a dog owner this is is a brilliant place.

I got woken up by the sun as the blinds weren't blackout but I'm quite a light sleeper.
Super friendly hosts! Had some car trouble getting up there and they were really helpful and offered lots of tea. Breakfast was amazing with lots of options for whatever you fancy. Short drive to some lovely walks around Ullswater.

Shower was not particularly strong but functional enough. Noise from other rooms was loud, especially next door's tv!

The hosts were super friendly and helpful. It’s lovely to have b&b’s which are truly dog friendly. Delicious breakfasts and the hosts were truly eager to please guests and offer extra refreshments. It was a nice touch to get advice of nice walks nearby. The Troutbeck inn over the road (literally!) also serves delicious food which is a bonus.

Loved all of it. Nothing bad at all.
Absolutely loved it here! Perfect get away! Lovely room! The owner Dean couldn't do enough for us and was really helpful. Breakfast was amazing and the hot tub was the icing on the cake!

The pub/Inn across the road was closed at the time, where we intended to go for a meal. The host recommended another pub 4 miles up the road, the white horse, which was really good for pub grub!
The room was nice and warm, lovely shower, excellent full english breakfast with additional choices, proper cafetiere coffee and lovely view at breakfast. Loved the bone China, which was a nice touch. The hot tub was great! Great friendly host!
