The rooms are a little dated could do with a freshening up a little. But other than that it's very relaxing and an all round lovely hotel.

It was peaceful and quiet. Bath in the rooms definitely a selling point for me. It wasnt too busy the facilities are chilled... We have been back to use the pool with our children too as it's warm and relaxing there. Be seeing us lots more too.

The hotel feels a little dated internally in terms of the styling of the rooms. The bed that was in felt a little hard. My main issue with the hotel was the changing facilities for the pool / gym. You need a padlock (not provided) to secure your items in a locker. Not many guests would come prepared for this. I ended up having to carry my items in the gym, and didnt use the pool as i would have to leave the locker unsecured with my valubles in. I was told on checkout that they do not provide Invoices to guests who book through booking.com - which i have never experienced at any other hotel - you are the service provider. However the person dealing with my checkout did print an invoice (even though the was "not supposed to")

The hotel was conveniently located for my work trip with easy access to the M61. The breakfast was nice with some varied options available for most tastes.

Room in need of updating , I was offered an upgrade by the hotel via email and accepted this, I even rang the hotel and confirmed the upgrade and was told it was one of our best rooms, we were not even told there was none available I had to go to the reception myself and was told my manager should of explained this on check in

    - the Wifi wasn't great which was really disappointing for me as I wanted to do some work and stream some films on my laptop. -the bar staff were lovely but some not very familiar with drinks- how to make a gin and tonic, or which were white or red wines. Having lemon or lime to put in gin and tonics would be great.

-There was a good choice at breakfast. - I found all the staff- at reception, the bar and in the breakfast room to be very helpful and friendly.

Considering I was upgraded to a privelige room The washbasin was delaminated, and when I had a shower the bodywash bottle was empty also no obvious place to plug in usb charging cable and reception did not have a plug dm for guest use. I subsequently was able to charge my phone by plugging into a usb socket on the tv. The room was very bland with only one picture on one wall

The Waffel towel robe was a very nice touch but when I asked to buy one I was told by reception it’s not possible. A lost opportunity in my opinion.

TV a little small. I do like to watch a little mindless TV after work to relax, My room, which was on the top floor had angled low ceiling to one side. At 6'2" had to be carefull getting out of bed. Needed a vending machine for those late night snacks that the bar doesn't do.

Although a little dated in places, room was comfy and clean. Polite and friendly staff. Bar food very tasty. Breakfast very good. Good value Hotel to use whilst working at the exhibition just 1 mile away.

£30 charge for1 night for 2 dogs -i had asked and messaged about the charge but did not receive a response . I would have booked elsewhere for that price and I’m unhappy you did not respond to my question on booking.com! You need to advertise the charge. The room was overpriced.

Check in was prompt and the staff were lovely.

No eggs for breakfast the first day. Also, no croissants or pastries. Breakfast cooked to order the second day when I had expected a buffet breakfast like the previous day. This would have been fine if I had been informed in advance because I was on a tight schedule. The coffee machine was also out of order.

My room was large and had a nespresso coffee machine and the bed was comfortable. The swimming pool was a decent size.

For me, but only because of my reason for being there was that it was a little too far out and I spent a fortune on Uber's, I was there to see my elderly mother in law who lives in Horwich, and was taken to hospital then got moved to a rehabilitation respite home even further away from the hotel, that is not the fault of the hotel, just circumstances at the time.

Room was adequate for my needs, I was there for 5 nights, room was clean, enough towels etc. I asked for extra tea & coffee and it was replenished straight away.

Really clean room (thanks to Jamie), comfy bed, friendly staff, nice to have access to the pool before breakfast. Great breakfast with some vegan options (and oat milk). I found everything really good and yes, there are some dated aspects to the hotel but I found I had a great sleep in a clean and comfortable room, along with a great start to my day, with a swim and filling breakfast. Many thanks to the team at Mercure.

The room had a faint smell I can't describe when entering the room for first time. TV was old no Smart Tv.

Service at desk was quick and polite. Informed us we can use the gym and sauna for free. Bed was comfortable. Location near to motorway 2 min drive but still quiet and remote. Shower was great enough space.
