The staff were all lovely. The hotel and spa are excellent and the charm of the hotel is that is busy but quiet at the same time. Good always good and cater well for dietary requirements. The dog loved it too.

The spa cancelled our treatments the week before which was really sad as we were both looking forward to that for several weeks - but these things happen and the hotel were wonderful at giving us a discount.

This place is heaven on earth. 2 burnt out nurses came to be restored and it did the job. The staff are so so lovely.

Breakfast was quite slow and the cooked breakfast I had wasn’t the best. I would expect higher standards at breakfast based on the room prices

Lovely old hotel with interesting rooms and articles on display. We were upgraded to the four poster room which was very spacious and had an amazing bath. We brought our dog and the staff were very accommodating ensuring we got a table in the bar for a delicious dinner on a very busy night. Decent spa although best to try and go during quiet times if possible as can get crowded. I had an amazing facial so would recommend treatments if there is availability

Sauna not working. Bar was a little understaffed and though they had a wide gin selection no one knew anything about them which seemed a shame. The staff did their best though and were really nice and helpful - perhaps a bit more training and more staff would have helped.

Spa was excellent and good standard though sauna wasn't working. Breakfast and dinner were very good quality and good service. Hotel has a lovely cosy old world charm to it and seems to attract a lot of locals too. Location is brilliant, right in the town centre in a lovely spot close to nice pubs and restaurants but not noisy (we had a corner room). Lots of areas to hang out in and pleasant grounds. Car parking easy.

What a beautiful, quirky building. My room was like walking back in time, with a four poster bed and dark panelling. If you want something central that has character and charm, then this is perfect. If you are infirm on your feet, then there are a lot of different steps and stairs. Absolutely beautiful.

Service was a bit hit and miss. Breakfast was very busy and extra staff were obviously deployed to help out. No one pointed out that cereal and fruit juice was in separate room

Service in the restaurant was a little hit and miss, though always pleasant.

We loved our fantastic room with an incredible antique four poster, huge bath and lovely sash windows. The spa was great to warm the bones after a cold walk.

Frustratingly both the Sauna and Jacuzzi were out of order for the duration of our 2 day stay

Spa is excellent. The lounge area is great, very cozy with board games and cards available to accompany an evening drink.
