Heating! In April temperatures resembling February and the heating was turned off. I understand hotel costs are an issue on profit, but in refurbishing rooms maybe auxiliary heating options could be considered.

A re-purposed older building with a fantastic Atrium and preserved art deco features. With bars, no frills food and private rooms serving the Atrium, friendly staff, massive free car parking. General good vibe about the place.

Finding the entrance in the dark was a trial if not knowing the area (Google Maps took us to the bus depot next door!) and it didn't seem like we'd found the hotel as it was all about the conference centre really. Car parking was also very confusing. Just needs clearer signage for all of this really.

The hidden history of the place that was subtly included. Obviously a quiet time so minimal staff, but those there were great. Breakfast was made to order and was top notch (including my veggie one). The fact that, with all our discounts, our stay was almost free, made it even better.

The bathroom window would not shut, which wasn’t a massive issue. There were cobwebs in the bathroom

Staff in general are very good but some junior members are a little over zealous. While eating our evening meal the waiter appeared twice with the card machine to ask for payment. Training is needed.

The building was clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and helpful. I only had breakfast during my stay and the food could not be faulted. Also due to my careful planning was close to the station and my place of visit.

Ample parking on arrival and a lovely welcome on reception. It's an amazing building in the Art Deco style and was used as the Railways training centre. It has a very interesting history. Our twin room didn't have much of a view but was very clean and comfortable. There is plenty of storage space, too. The bathroom was extraordinarily big to say it only had a very small shower, a toilet, and sink. We assume it used to have a bath as you could have fit a child's bed in the extra space and still get to the amenities!! We didn't get housekeeping during our 3 night stay, but anything we needed reception would sort. In our case, the house ladies were very kind and accommodated us with any extra towels and an empty bin. Breakfast was self-service, well cooked, and hot. All in all, it was a very pleasant stay for us whilst visiting National Trust properties in Derby.

Idiot woman not going the correct way on the entrance road, white bmw with a blonde woman driving, guess she was too important to read the signs.

The hot water was hot instantly and the querky building, beds comfortable staff polite and helpful.
