Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanyI got a room upgrade, which was a nice surprise, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. I left my bag at the hotel 2h before check-in and when I came back, it had already been brought into my room. I stayed for 3 nights and the location was central enough for me to explore Old Town and New Town on foot, though I acquired a lot of steps. The room was nice and clean (as long as you didn't look at anything too closely) and I personally had no problem sleeping in the bed. The view from the upgraded room was great (see pictures). There is some sort of bar (?) right outside the window, so sometimes you could hear semi-loud music playing. One night I thought I would need ear plugs, but the music stopped right when I went to bed. Overall everything I needed for my trip.

United States of AmericaThe bed was a little stiff and the room wasn’t the most sound proof. I still slept great but could hear people returning at night/walking up the stairs.
The staff was amazing. I had a sore ankle and asked for ice and they brought me multiple ice packs and checked back on me, really thorough follow up. They were very friendly and helpful. I arrived early and they stored my bag, then later when I returned they brought my bag up to my room. They were also ok with me getting water for my water bottle from the bar.

United KingdomWe had to go and look for staff each time we wanted another drink or anything from the bar. We also had to wait to get a drink because there was not someone there waiting for us to serve.
Good central location, easy to walk to places. Really lovely lady who checked us in.

United KingdomDidn't realise we would be on the top floor in attic room with no lift. Never thought to say when booking that my husband is awaiting a knee replacement and struggling with stairs so not the hotels fault.

Italy- Rooms are not very big (considering I had opted for one of their more spacious rooms), but not a major issue for short stays - Staff is friendly but could be more attentive to guest requests. Case in point: My room TV was not working on Day 1. I requested them to take a look at it and it was indeed faulty. They promised to get it fixed the next day (and even offered free breakfast as a compensation), but it was never fixed until I complained again on Day 5. - Breakfast is quite minimal but probably OK for a small hotel. Was looking for english breakfast options which were there but quite limited. - It was a pleasant stay nonetheless but hopefully if the above aspects could be improved, it would be even better.
- Situated in the heart of Edinburgh at York Place - Friendly staff - The hotel has a old world vibe to it

Ukraine1. There was constant noise from the pipes in the bathroom. 2. It would be nice to have a small fridge in a room. 3. When we came down for breakfast, there was no staff, and just yoghurt / musli / bread / juice on display, so we thought those were the only breakfast options available. We took some snacks and sat down, then I noticed other guests had proper meals. I was confused but didn't know what to do and where to find other food, there was noone behind the bar as well. After a while a waiter came and gave us a menu... I ordered my breakfast and enjoyed it, though it took abt 20 minutes to serve it. As for my child, his appetite was slackened after he had a toast and a glass of juice so he didn't get the opportunity to try meals from the menu. Nevertheless, we both are happy with our stay at the Place Hotel!
The Place is located literally across the road from the bus station which is great! Also in walking distance from the centre with all the amenities around (tram stop, shopping gallery, St. Andrew Square, etc). The hotel and the room itself is spotless, the staff is friendly and polite, especially the housekeeping lady. Nice toiletries. The menu is optimal, the breakfast is tasty and is served in a fancy dining room.
