Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence

To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

When checking in be made aware of the need to comple the room service form so tea tray water can be replenished. Didn’t see form until second night.
Very clean. Lovely personal touches like water in the room and home made biscuits. Very good breakfast. Polite and helpful staff.

Lovely comfy room with good facilities. Huge bathroom with fabulous shower. Very pleasant and accommodating staff. Good evening menu, and excellent breakfast. Lovely surroundings and plenty of parking which is always helpful.

We thought dinner was quite expensive and the dining room and bar area had a spartan feel and didn’t feel very cosy. Not somewhere you could relax and read a book or maybe have your coffee.

Evening experience, although the food and service were great the dining room lacked ambience and a little cold.

Period building with newly refurbished rooms, tastefully decorated with charm, character and a modern twist. The high quality patio is nicely designed and there is a lovely garden area. All the staff we met were very professional and friendly. Food is exceptional and the sumptuous breakfasts set you up for the day.

A bit too far to walk into the town. would have been fine if not raining.

Having a room as a fire escape with a key on the outside of the door. Felt insecure. Think the room although small should have had at least one chair as we had to sit on the bed all of the time.

I didnt sleep well as the heated towel rail hummed rather loudly and I could hear an extractor cutting in and out through the night.
This was our 2nd stay here after visiting last March during the refurbishment. Once agsin we took up an offer of 3 for 2nights. Our room was compact and clean, the bathroom was very spacious. I like how rooms are only serviced upon request and you just ask to top up what you need. Breakfasts were excellent although you do need hollandaise sauce with your salmon!! But still would be great value for money to non residents. Staff friendly snd chatty.

I would have like fresh fruit available for breakfast.
The breakfast was well cooked and tasted good. Good quality ingredients . Our room was very spacious with a lovely bathroom. Staff were friendly and the evening meal we had was excellent and well presented.

Breakfast was a bit slow on the second morning. I think it was because a lot of guests arrived at the same time and everything is cooked freshly.
Lovely room. Very friendly staff and lots of parking. Dinner and breakfast both great.

Well I can't think of anything
Excellent breakfasts and main courses at dinner. Light clean and well appointed room . Sense of history in the property going back a century. I felt very looked after and putcat ease by the staff.I enjoyed being somewhat away from Southwold, which was within walking distance . Liked the quiet location.Rather nice objects around the hotel. The music in the bar was well chosen.

We were up two flights of stairs, so be aware if you have a lot of luggage. The water pressure in the bathroom was a bit slow, possibly because we were on the top floor?
Our room was large and warm. We were on the top floor with a nice view of the garden. The bathroom was spacious and new. The breakfast was first class which was cooked to order. The hotel is in a nice area about 20 minute walk into Southwold. We didn't eat in the restaurant as it was a bit quiet when we stayed.
