Booked a room with sea view. Didn't expect to have to stand on a chair to be able to see it, Bathroom was very narrow and awkward to access. Not able to turn off radiator in bathroom, which was far too hot.

    Breakfast. Parking.

Great hotel for what I needed from it

It however you are looking to spend time in the hotel itself, I don't think it's rooms are comfortable enough and the bar arears would not be my choice of 'nice' surrounding, given the choices of even the Wetherspoons on the harbour front. Pick this hotel as a place to crash, not a destination of its own right and it spot on. So if my couple of photos of things wrong in the room bother you look elsewhere - If like me they more amuse you, you'll be fine here.

This hotel is what it is. It's not luxurious, it's not perfectly maintained etc. but it's the cheapest hotel in Oban, it's right round the corner from the harbour, so a great location, with friendly and helpful staff. The breakfast for a cooked buffet is great, and there's a few choices of continental too. If you are just looking for somewhere for a few nights to sleep, wash and eat breakfast, there nothing wrong with this place at all and I'd probably try again here when I return to Oban.

Just odd things, really, a couple of marks on the wall where it's aged. The cold water faucet in the bathroom was loose, wasn't leaking, but just the tap itself was loose and moved when using it. Other than that, it was great.

I really loved the young gentleman's customer service at the front desk. Fantastic, warm, and welcoming, the location is incredible, and the stay was great value, including the breakfast. Bed was really comfortable.

The hotel (although an old building) is looking tired and could do with being upgraded. Flooring is interesting to walk on as it is not all level!!!

Breakfasts are excellent and staff within hotel were very pleasant and helpful.

Central location, 5 mi s from buses a d trains and all shops. I had a road facing room, no noise from trafgic .First night very windy, had to plug a rattling window! Comfy bed. Very clean.

Another great weekend in Oban, the town is really buoyant and bustling with tourists, even in April.

Bedside lamp and wall light in room would not light ? WHB taps and flush handle on WC kept coming undone. Cistern continued to run after flush, and needed flush handle to be raised to stop water. Shower head in bathroom is fixed directly above on ceiling. OK if meaning to wash hair, otherwise, drenched. Minor points which handyman could correct, but an annoyance to the customer.

Our room was clean and comfortable with plenty drawers and storage space. Tea/coffee and biscuits provided. Bathroom clean with walk in shower and plenty towels/ shampoo etc. Meals in the spacious lounge bar were excellent and average prices. Guitar man on Fri night and accordion on Sat night. Music appreciated by all, including bus load of Belgium Cousins. The Royal Hotel has a very welcoming atmosphere and looks after its visitors - why we keep coming back !

Moldy ceiling leak in the bathroom. Quite dated interiors/furnishings...

The property is tired and a bit smelly it’s about time money was spent upgrading it by from 30 years ago l see many hotels like this in Scotland it’s embarrassing.

The hotel was in a great location and provided a great breakfast free of charge something most hotels now charge for over room price post Covid.
