Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomOur room (number 1) was right above the bar which meant it was always going to be a bit noisy. On the night we stayed (a bank holiday Friday) there was a live disco which meant it was very noisy indeed until 11. When we mentioned this to staff in the morning they were apologetic but said that that was the first time they had had live music. If you want a quiet room it would be east to request one away from the bar area.
We received a very warm welcome on arrival at the hotel and were able to park while we went for a walk prior to check-in. Our room was very big, well appointed, comfortable and lovely and warm. There was a very good shower with plenty of hot water. Tea, coffee and biscuits were provided and the staff were happy to provide us with herbal tea bags when asked.

United KingdomIf you have a dog you're not staying in the main building but in the building behind it, so you would have to cross the road to get to breakfast etc. Not a major issue but there were loads of dogs in close proximity of each other which set each other off a little bit. The room was clean but basic. Our TV was broken and old and the bathroom was basic. Restaurant was great but quite expensive for ok food.
Staff was lovely and the location was amazing! The restaurant has tables outside overlooking the lake which especially in summer is perfect. The breakfast was really good with great options and plenty of space to sit. It was asy to walk into ambleside and everywhere is super dog friendly! The bed was really comfy too and loved that they had coffee, tea, cookies and dog biscuits. The vibe of the restaurant was really nice with great views, overall we had a great stay.

United KingdomThe food on the menu to order was mid, i get youre paying a little extra for location and view, but that doesnt excuse a dry burger and a somewhat bland battered fish at those prices. Sadly we decided to eat out of the hotel in evening because of this. The breakfast was great though .
Nice room, everything was clean and comfortable. Next to the lake was a bonus too, to chill with a drink - and its 5 min drive to ambleside center. We managed to access all what we wanted to see, including rydal caves and wray castle within a 15 min drive, and the ferry service down to bowness. Breakfast was aweaome - Would stay here again

AustraliaThe entire region is (new-vogue) dog-friendly. That's fine but dog numbers ' behaviour in the restaurant area was off-putting. Some dog owners uncaring about dogs barking etc.
A deviating course to our room 6. However, pleasantly surprised with the size & layout of the suite. Excellent Bathroom size, function & storage. Great space & storage facilities in the entry lobby & sitting area.

United KingdomVery minor but more for your information: On a nice day, it can get very busy with long queues, so double up on drinks. Carpet in dog friendly rooms. No direct outdoor space.
Incredible pub right on the lake. Lovely setting and plenty of space whilst also being dog friendly. The staff were all very nice, friendly and welcoming and made our stay very special. The menu had good options and catered for most diets. The beers on tap were also very good. We would definitely come back.

United KingdomBath water could have been hotter. Cups were cold at breakfast. Menu food was good but limited choice and descriptions exaggerated e.g. a sweet described to be served with "lashings of custard" in fact served with a very small amount..
Breakfast was very good. Initial room was not what we wanted but the they changed us to a much nicer one. Accommodation was comfortable and cosy. Tea and coffee in room. Room was quiet.

United KingdomThe changes to the layout come at a price, I feel; the breakfast is now a buffet arrangement - excellent choices but cooked breakfast soon went cold and so disappointing if you remember how it was before - cooked freshly and served hot to your table so the quality has taken a dip in my view. I would still stay there again, however, as the positives for me outweigh this negative.
Perfect view, location. Room 11 have had before and was very pleased to have it again. Changes to hotel layout since refurbishment meant plenty of seats to choose from in the bar/restaurant. Happy to have ample parking available and be within 2 minutes of the pier to get a ferry. Thought bed may be too soft when I say on it but I was wrong - very comfortable sleep there both nights. The Thai Yellow Curry I had one night was really tasty and I really enjoyed it.
