Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

FinlandAlkion is modest, peaceful, cozily attractive, well kept ja clean hotel just few minutes walk away from the beach and bus stops. Pool area is private and sheltered by meters high oleanders. Our stay was at the end of the season, so hotel was very quiet and there was no breakfast available at the premises - not a problem ’cause water boiler & fridge in the room made it easy enough to have our own breakfast at the balcony (close by grocery store and cafeteria opened bright and early). Even tho’ staff wasn’t at the premises all the time, manager was just phone call away and arrived to the reception on a short notice if needed. Please read until the very end: Because of our flight schedules our arrival/departing times were very late - just before midnight - we were able to pickup our room key & info conveniently from a lockbox outside the hotel main door and finalize our check-in in the morning after. With this in mind, we had also agreed on a late check-out at 6pm when leaving the last evening of our stay. Unfortunately our last day started to look pretty glooming… we were told the evening before that hotel will be closed in the morning (because of power & water had been preset to be cut off) and we would need to leave never mind the earlier agreement. Now… this is customer service: To honor our previous agreement, hotel manager arranged us a room for the day at the next door hotel for luggage keeping and showering before departure! Thank you Manolis for your quick thinking and exceptional service!!

GermanyAccommodation was very good and staff was also very nice and hospitable. There was only one problem with the shower which was solved immediately. I am very satisfied. There was also a parking place. You can also have breakfast nearby in a café for 6,50€. Everything was great there too. Thank you

Polandrooms that have not been renovated for years, fridge that literally freezes food, covid restrictions that are dubious to me [e.g. pool closed for 15 hours for sanitization whereas Greek covid law says only about regularity, not length]
good price, helpful host with good English, small but clean pool, presence of parking, beach & numerous restaurants nearby

United Kingdomunfortunately the noise of the loud motors from the nearby street during the evening was disturbing when we kept the window open.
we had the option to choose between firm and soft mattress and we chose the firm one and it was great for our back. The fridge and the mirror in the room was helpful. The owner was helpful and kind and he even arranged our transfer to the hotel next door at his expense due to the renovation works in his hotel. We hope Alkion hotel will be beautiful after the renovation.

AustraliaThe bed was uncomfortable, It made a noise every time you moved and the cupboards were stinking of sweat that I couldn't hang my clothes in. The pillows were flat and smelly and my bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. The door handle was broken. The accommodation was very noisy...no peace and enjoyment.
The pool area was nice and the hotel manager was good to.The outside area under the shaded pergola was good.

DenmarkThe owner was very helpful when he heard we wanted to rent a car and he contacted the rental company Traffic. It is not recommended to do this. We ended up renting a car that had driven more than 160,000 km for a top price of €560. At the same time, we had to pay in cash because the card terminal was broken. It smells far away of scams and extra fees and definitely cannot be recommended. We got the impression that the friendliness and hospitality was mostly for their own gain - not to help you as a tourist. An answer to the reply from the hotel Your memory isn't that good - your answer shows that you should try as a poet!
It is a cozy hotel with a good atmosphere, but it is old and badly in need of a thorough renovation. The rooms are relatively small, there is a fridge and a balcony. The mattresses are very hard and the toilet does not work properly - you have to lift the whole lid to flush. The cleaning was top notch and the room was always nicely cleaned and the beds made - super service. The hotel is in a nice area with many restaurants, close to the beach and not as many tourists as Chania itself.

ItalyOur stay in Alkion Hotel was fantastic. We immediately felt at home, the atmosphere is really pleasant and the place is exceptional. If you are looking for a quiet retreat where you can relax a stone's throw from the sea, this is the right place for you. The hotel is well connected to the port of chania with buses that run every 10/15 minutes and the beaches of Agia marina and Platanias 5/10 minutes in the opposite direction. Restaurants and supermarkets are everywhere and offer many options for vegetarians and vegans as well. Alkion also offers excursion packages to all the most famous places in the area: Elafonissi, Balos, Samaria and they directly come to pick you up in front of the hotel. For any need, the owner Manolis is always at your disposal with professionalism, respect and lots of kindness 😊 We highly recommend this place!
