Typical 2024 Irish stay: convenient but overpriced, slightly disappointing.

Dinner and breakfast were expensive and underwhelming. Bedroom was too hot, despite sleeping with open windows (heating was on when we arrived, in early May !) . TVs in the room were a pain to connect to internet and very low quality. And the swimming pool showers were cold, although it was undergoing some form of maintenance so it was probably just unlucky timing.

Suprisingly quiet, beds were good. Staff was grand.

Staff were all lovely which is always good. Food was delicious, Great they had family meal deals for a family of 5. Its always 2 + 2. Also the inter connecting rooms are a big bonus for older kids.

Steam room out of order. Showers in the pool changing rooms took a very long time to heat up. No breakfast included considering the cost.

Beautiful old building. Easy check in and out. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Very dull and dingy rooms, cracked sink and not really much guidance on where things were. Had to ask about the pool as the signage was non existent

Room was odd layout with a locked room that apparently was a living room that could be used for a family booking We had pre ordered the dinner package but was directed to the noisy bar/bistro to have a 3 course dinner. We chose not to have the meal. The area was fine for bar food but not for a nice meal. The dining room was not open. We did receive a refund but after some discussion

Had a lot of good features, pool etc a large room, good breakfast

The windows in our room were too high up to see out of. I found this off putting. I had specifically asked for a quiet area as our son is autistic and gets overwhelmed. There were very young children in the room next door which had an adjoining internal door - not sound proofed. Our children are teens so they were woken very early by the young children. It was poorly managed by the hotel given that you have to specify age of children when booking. Keep families with teens away from families with toddlers etc.

Breakfast was fabulous - so much choice and self service. Coffee machine was really good!. Staff were lovely and very helpful. The building itself is stunning, lots of lovely areas to sit and chat. There was a sweet shop open each evening selling olde worlde sweets by weight - nice touch! We ate both nights in the restaurant and it was lovely - great menu to suit all and plenty of space for quality family time.

Lack of ice machines on each floor. One coffee machine in breakfast hall. Reception staff appeared to be annoyed if asked questions. No glass wear in rooms. No toiletries in room. Pool towels need to be replaced, too small, worn and hard. No kitchen towels. Netflix didn't work. In all the hotel was good but basics like above would enhance every stay and be a true 4 star hotel.

Very warm and could have better sound proofing between rooms. Restaurant was fine but slightly overpriced for what it was, would recommend going to the town for dinner but fine for breakfast.

Family friendly, lots of activities for kids and good location with a bus to the town right at the entrance. Breakfast was also nice with a very good selection. Tents for kids in the room is a nice optional touch as was the pool inflatable.

Not a big deal but a bit far from town centre. It is a pleasant walk, but we were lucky and the weather was lovely, might be a different story when the weather isn’t great.. would need to drive or take a taxi
