To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):

When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

IndiaI paid for my accommodation in cash. The front desk lady told me upon check in that they did not have change to return and would do so at check out. When I went to check out, the 2 ladies at the front desk rounded up the amount they owed to me and very conveniently returned it to me with a smile on their faces as if I am a dumb person who doesn’t know how to read or write. They owed me about Rs 110.65 and they returned Rs 100, which is not a big difference and it was just about Rs 10 so I left as I was getting late for the airport. But I thought they could have at least said sorry or mentioned that they didn’t have change. They didn’t do any of that. I was travelling to India from overseas so honestly Rs 10 is a couple of cents at best for me. But it’s not about the money, it’s about the behaviour of the front desk staff. They need to learn basic manners. Especially the two women who checked me out. I thought it was very poor customer service.
The hotel was clean and rooms were also very clean. Room service team was also very responsive and quick.

United States of AmericaThe spa was a horrible experience. The receptionist didn’t understand the pricing or menu, the masseuse’s phone kept ringing. There was no pillow for my face when lying flat - I had to ask 3 times before she realized she forget it. Then she went over my time by 40 mins - which I only realized after stopping the facial to check the product ingredients- and had to then run out for my check out time. Also noted - no refund was given despite me not completing the treatment. The staff was aware that I was leaving and were not careful about this. Overall quite a terrible way to end my fantastic stay in India.
