Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The heater in our room did not work well. It was supposed to have been fixed the day after our arrival. However, we were still cold upon our return to our room on the third day so I asked the night receptionist to lend us a portable heater.
Breakfast was great…the best cappuccino we’ve had in Italy . Location is excellent as we need not transport our luggage in vaporettos.

Very creaky bed. Even if you carefully toss and turn during sleep. Sound insulation with sibling's bathroom is near zero. We can hear literally every noise they make.. Literally
Perfect location if you travel by train (10 minutes by feet, seabus station near). Very good breakfast. Cozy and spacious room.

Request for a twin bed was not fulfilled although this was done months before arriving. Bed were uncomfortable.
Location very close to Piazzale Roma. Spacious bathroom. Room had a window overlooking the canal which was nice. Breakfast was very good and had a good selection of items.

Other guests talking loudly in common areas late into the night
Clean, powerful shower, easy to find 5 minute walk from bus stop. Plenty of character. Good sized room for 3 people. There is no TV in the room

I have mentioned some things above but overall for the money and the service the hotel is fine indeed. The breakfast room was kept clean and supplied with condiments throughout.
Location fine and the breakfast quite good except ~I must say that fresh fruit salad as opposed to tinned would have been an improvement. The hot watwer for making tea was very hot and that was good. Perhaps a couple of teapots so that two or three cups could be drunk without needing to repeat the exercise of making it. Excellent service from the front desk. Problems sorted straight away and a friendly approach to sorting of problems.

Nothing. We already knew on booking that it was a shared bathroom across the hallway so that was no surprise. Maybe not a good choice with really young children, but fine for us.
Perfect for our budget and length of stay. Breakfast was included and very nice. Room was huge and perfect for a family.

The bed was extremely uncomfortable and stiff, one night I did not sleep well because of it.
Excellent location, very close to the train and bus stations. Venice would have been a difficult city to walk through with luggage so I'm grateful it was so easy to get to the hotel. Also the daily breakfast with a diverse espresso machine (latte, macchiato, American coffee...) was a nice bonus. Overall a good value for the price.

Not really a problem but the hotel rooms are a bit old but it is a former monastery, so I guess it is part of the charm.

Extremely noisy late at night and early morning with our room by the vaporetto, breakfast was very limited, bed felt like it would collapse!

Wish the bed was more comfortable and the breakfast was more selection but honestly spent more time away from the hotel than at.
Close to the train station and a great place to come back to after going out an adventuring. They also keep the key at the desk every time you leave and that helped me not lose it.

It is not the most comfortable hotel room in the city; the bed was a bit hard and there is no comforter, only blanket. However, I must say that the rooms and common areas were spotless. There is also no TV in the room, but it might not be essential when visiting a city like Venice.
The location of the hotel is very convenient (close to train station and bus terminal from and to Airports). It offers very decent facilities in historical building. The fact that I got a room with a private bathroom and WC is very convinient and feels more comfortable. The staff is friendly and the front desk is always manned; this makes it very convenient for people either checking-in late or checking-out early. Breakfast is served every morning and is varied and plentiful.

The confort of the bed. The coffee was so bad... i was hopping that the breakfast would have at least a good coffee.
The location is a big plus. Easy acces to the main station, also a 20-30 min walk to the touristic attractions.
