Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe air conditioning was not the greatest especially in the second bedroom. Breakfast was o.k. but on the expensive side for what we got. Lots of cake, which were delicious but would have preferred more variety. Also you had to take the breakfast for your whole stay. We would have preferred only the morning after our arrival as we did not have a chance to go food shopping
Staying in a castle was a treat but the actual apartment as attractive as the pictures showed in the listing

AustraliaInternet/wifi is very patchy so made hard to access emails. Given the hot weather, no airconditioning in the apartment (water coolers were included but not up to the task)
Location to explore the Tuscany region was excellent. Having the chance to stay in an old castle also brilliant. Great size rooms and bathroom. Given hot weather, the pool certainly a nice bonus to use after exploring the area

ItalyI would have liked one extra mirror in the room (there was just one in the bathroom). Anyway, everything's perfect.

United StatesThe property was beautiful and the pool very refreshing on a hot day. The wine was amazing. The room comfortable and all that we needed. I would suggest driving to the property and bringing your own snacks as they only offer breakfast (which is amazing) and dinner for an additional cost. There are not many options for food in the area.

NetherlandsNo restaurant on the premises, but there is a very popular pizzeria restaurant, la Locanda di Strove 400 meters away in the tiny village of Strove.
Splendid castle abode with a great swimming pool. Located right on the Via Francigena, so nice hiking opportunities from the doorstep.

United KingdomThe list on this is endless but if the owners are reading this and then I feel a few things desperately need addressing ... The boiler smells... Rooms freezing... The old bedspread on the bed looked like it had not been washed in years and it's all there is just one the bed ...no extra covers to help with the cold... Black mold in the shower and the smell not just from the sewage but the whole damp cold room ...the bed was also like sleeping on the floor and on inspection was just two old mattresses put on a put me up frame ... The daughter told me how her dad had struggled to keep the castle going and it was his dream ... Well maybe getting the essentials sorted might help ... This is my first bad review I've left ...as I can always find something positive to say ... But sadly as hard as the owner has tried it's lacking so much basic comforts ...
The staff at the castle were very nice, and the exterior of the castle looked great ...but that is where it stops for me I am afraid... I chose this castle with little expectations as I quite like the experience of the old thick walks and odd shaped steps and doors ...and over the many years of my extensive travels has revealed many castles in various states of repair... The room was terrible, the smell was so overwhelming at times it made us feel ill. It's freezing, I stay in Castles and old buildings wherever possible and understand the quirky problems people have converting these buildings, keeping them warm and damp proof... but sadly this is by far the worst castle I've ever stayed in. The ramp to get into the castle rooms is dangerous for any one with mobility problems and is completely disabled unfriendly. The car park drive way had also been washed away ...

AustraliaUnfortunately no Kettle or tea & coffee facilities in the room so we couldn’t make a drink after long drive. There wasn’t any glasses to drink out of either so this was an issue.
Beautiful setting & nice room, accommodation is not in the castle but outer building. The pool area is excellent to relax by.

United KingdomEverything was great - especially our kind hostess.
The location was excellent and the staff were very welcoming and efficient. They made reservations for us for an excellent meal in a local restaurant and also for opera tickets. There were suggestions for our itinerary using local knowledge. Breakfast was taken near the 11th century tower and provided a good choice. The pool was very clean and conveniently located. The nearby village had a great pizzeria within walking distance. The property was close to many interesting places including Siena, Montereggiano, San Gimignano, Colle Val d'Elsa and Volterra. We had a most enjoyable stay and hope to return in future.

ItalyRigidity around check in and out; flexibility is needed by most travellers. Wine tasting that was offered several times before we eventually said yes, was then charged on check out. FYI: Short stay rooms are not in the actual castle - these rooms are for longer stays.

United StatesBathroom walls were thin, the couple next to us were arguing the whole evening and night, although closing the bathroom door sufficiently dampened the sound.
Beautiful castle/villa turned into hotel in Tuscany. Breakfast was nice and the coffee was always great in Italy. It is very close to Monteriggioni which made dinner in the walled town perfect!

BelgiumGreat location. Good breakfast. One night we went for a drink and left our car on the parking of an nearby restaurant. When we left the bar, the gate of the parking was closed so a friendly customer brought us back to the hotel. The next morning the host was so kind to bring us back to our car. We want to express our gratitude again for this!
