Breakfast wasn't as good as we had hoped. Very basic options available. The bathroom (particularly the shower) is not up to a 5star hotel standard but it did the job once the shower head was replaced. Our room did not get wifi unless you were in the bathroom. We were given two other wifi codes but it was the same issue.

We had a wonderful stay and we would stay again. It was very traditional, which may in some cases be seen as in need of an update but it did give a certain charm. Very good location as it's a 5 minute walk into town. The pool area although quite crowded (again very typical of Italy) it was great to have access to the pools and the sea. The views were also amazing. The bed was very comfortable and we had a fantastic view from our large balcony. The staff were helpful when we had any questions or issues. The shower head needed replacement and this was done on the same day! Eden roc was lovely for lunch!

The Beach Club is built on terraces. On each terrace there are sun-beds, with the main pool and jacuzzis are on the top terrace, and the bottom terrace has direct sea access. Unless you wake up early to drop a towel on a bed, you will probably be stuck somewhere in-between. That means you will not be able to look over your personal belongings, and have to go up and down a few flights of stairs every time you want to get in the pool or sea (which is quite annoying when you are wet). When we addressed the staff about the empty sun-beds with nothing on them than a hotel towel (with no one visiting them for hours), one replied that it doesn’t matter and another one approached us in a rude manner that we were about to throw away people’s belongings (and again, we are talking about a single towel provided by the hotel). In a marvelous hotel such as this, I would have expected better treatment to this issue.

We got an upgrade to a suite, which is very much appreciated and it was just wonderful! The hotel looks like it came out of a fairytale, seeming very elegant and well-maintained. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with beautiful views of Rapallo Bay. The hotel staff was kind and friendly, they helped us a lot throughout our stay. Never had we felt like we were a burden, it was relieving. During breakfast we were offered a vast variety of delicious food and drinks, just what was needed to start the day off right. Room service was also quite generous - we ordered from them twice (once for a late dinner and once for breakfast) and it went on perfectly! The beach club was equipped with unique facilities, like an infinity pool overlooking the Portofino Coast, jacuzzis and direct access to the sea.

Asked for room with view and balcony and got exactly what we wanted. Antique furnishings in room and throughout hotel are outstanding and give a feeling of great value. Hotel dining was excellent. Pools and access to the beach was quick and easy. Would stay again.

Difficulty getting sufficient drinking water. Small bottles in the room, no other provision apart from ordering at the bar. Paper cups and Nescafé in the rooms, find your own milk. All a bit basic for a 5 star resort. Beach and pools don’t open till 9am and close at 7pm (bar even earlier). We found this a bit limiting if you want a pre-breakfast swim or a late afternoon chill out.

Location and beach club excellent. Terrace bar with live music was good. Beach restaurant excellent. Great to swim from the rocks. Helpful staff generally.

There was no huge selection of cocktails (a classic like bloody Mary was missing). Despite my dog being very well received I don't understand why we can't take her to the beach for her to swim with us ..

We have to wait for about 15 to 20 min while fried eggs or omelette are ready. The worst is that we were not able to get a taxi to the train station, however this is because of the D&G party in Portofino day before. but keep that in mind, we run to the station to get our train on time
