Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

AustraliaWe loved everything!
Really a beautiful Palazzo as described, but better, because it is also a home. Luciana and Claudio were such gracious and helpful hosts, and you felt so looked after. The residence is full of history, huge elegant public rooms, more intimate bedrooms, with brand new bathrooms. The breakfast really is superb, fresh fruit, special cereals etc, and the most wonderful selection of cakes (mostly made by Luciana) and pastries. As noted by others, there are stairs, but your bag is deftly carried up by Claudio.... the whole experience of Mantua was heightened by staying here. Very well located too.

Isle of ManIf I really wanted to be picky, the pillows could have been softer (but they probably would have been changed had I asked as it seemed nothing was too much trouble for Claudio) and it would have felt even more special if there had been luxury toiletry amenities in the bathroom instead of very basic sachets of shower gel. But sensibly, there was nothing to not like!
Everything about our stay was special - from arrival to departure. Personal, special attention was paid to all details and we were made to feel as if we were staying in the home of friends. The bedroom was massive with slippers and dressing gowns provided, breakfast at the long table in the exceptional dining room was delicious and plentiful (delicious local cheeses, salami made especially for Claudio, plentiful pastries, etc.) and the lounge, freely available for our use was magnificent. Our very own palazzo in the centre of Mantova with a key to the front door. Claudio arranged a transfer from the airport on arrival and both he and his mother were charming hosts. 2 other couples were also staying at the same time - one couple had visited 10 times so that is plenty of recommendation. The location was central but in a quiet street and only 5 minutes walk to the station if required. Very easy walk to all sights, shops and restaurants and such a beautiful city to visit.

Palazzo Arrivabene is a lovely palazzo in the historic area of Mantova. The location is perfect because you are within easy walking distance of all the sights. It is in a limited traffic zone, but we were fortunate to get street parking and our host provided the permit. The palazzo is elegantly furnished, with incredibly high ceilings, frescoes and large, shared areas for breakfast and lounging. Our room also had space for relaxing in private. Claudio and his charming mother were wonderful hosts and offered many suggestions for sightseeing and dining. One of the most elegant places we have stayed!

United KingdomNiente! E stato perfetto!
It was lovely to see Claudio and his mother Luciana again after staying at their wonderful home some 12 years ago! Palazzo Arrivabene is an absolutely beautiful place to stay in one of our favourite Italian cities. Parking is nearby if you cannot get a place outside on the street and within minutes you can walk into the centre of Mantua. You could not ask for more lovely hosts. The room was comfortable, well equipped and spotlessly clean and breakfast was lovely. Grazie Mille Luciana e Claudio!

United States of AmericaClaudio is the most generous, knowledgable, friendly and congenial host I've encountered in my travels. He went above and beyond to arrange a private historic library visit in another city (on a day it was closed)! Do not hesitate to book a room here. From the host's warm welcome and hospitality throughout my 1 day stay to the decadent cheese, sweet pastries & cakes, cafe, tea fruit, and ham breakfast to the well-stocked art, history, architecture bookshelves for curiosity feasting in the living room salon to the original Renaissance ceiling frescos in the grand hall enterance to the spacious antique decorated bedroom & bathroom, you feel like you're time traveling- mingling the present moment with 15th century Italian Renaissance. It's on a quiet side street a few blocks walking distance from all the city center sights and only 20 minutes between both famous Palazzos. Mantova was by far my favorite city to visit- away from the maddening Venice, Milan, Rome, Florence tourist crowds, with world class art collections in Palazzo Te and Ducale, mouth watering gelato, al fresco dining, etc.

United KingdomRight from the start, Claudio gave us great instructions, helpful and responsive. The Palazzo is an amazing building and as our host, he couldn't have been more knowledgeable about the city and what we should see and do. On our first night he rang around and found us a fantastic place for dinner at really short notice. We were made to feel so welcome and breakfast was always relaxed and friendly with great conversation. The whole stay was just perfect for us!

United States of AmericaYou don’t expect an elevator in an old Palazzo, so expect to walk up some stairs….
This a beautiful Palazzo built in the 1500’s. Beautiful high ceilings, frescos and paintings. You feel like royalty. Claudio is the owner and was very very helpful, especially helping with our luggage up the many stairs to our room and with suggestions and recommendations for restaurants, etc. His mother is a very gracious hostess and handles the breakfasts, which are delightful.

A stunning architectural masterpiece. Palatial main rooms and an entry that would put Buckingham Palace to shame. Rooms were spacious and ever so comfortable. New Italian Modern baths! A first family of Mantua runs this property which has been in their possession since 1916. Their hospitality is unmatched.

DenmarkClaudio Bini is a kind and competent host who makes you feel welcome in his fabulous home. Over a delicious breakfast he introduces guests (a maximum of six, I believe) to each other and offers advice on what to see and do in Mantova. He seems to know everybody. The Palazzo Arrivabene is easily the most elegant place we have stayed in for many years.

A gem of a boutique accommodation in a old and completely refurbished palazzo. For those who prefer authentic places a world apart from the bland modern hotels it would be a real experience. Spacious rooms and common rooms to linger about, fully stocked with refreshments and stuff to read. Signor Claudio is a most gracious host, and his mother--may God give her many more years--still bakes a wonderful pie for an otherwise abundant breakfast served in the hall by the hosts. Just a few minutes away on foot from the RW Station and the City Center. Hotly recommended, will stay there next time in Modena for sure! Thank you, Signor Claudio, for the hospitality.

This B&B is an elegant historical palazzo. My room and bathroom were huge and well maintained. The hosts were both very cordial and provided a beautiful formal table for breakfast with all types of choices, including some local one for me to try. I had to catch a train earlier than breakfast the last day, and they volunteered to have something ready for me. I expected maybe a coffee & croissant, but instead, a large assortment was ready for me. It is located just a couple of blocks from the group of piazzas for dinner and an easy walk to everything. About a 7 minute walk to the train station.
