The breakfast choice was impressive. Now, whether this was because we went down to breakfast at 10am or not ….. the sausages,bacon, beans, mushrooms and hash brown were almost cold. Not what you’d expect from a 4 star hotel. The same for the coffee - tepid. Quite disappointing.

The location, the helpfulness of Irena on reception, the size of the room and the free shuttle to the station. The breakfast was impressive but see below (in section - what didn’t you like about the property)

The breakfast was the best one I have ever done! It was huge and they have everything!! The staff was Awesome! The view of the lake was spectacular!! If you can afford it, it will be worth it!!

Beautiful hotel with a lovely bar area and outside space - the views of the lake were great! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and the free shuttle to the train station was very handy!

Hard to sleep at night because we stayed just before the hotel turns on the AC (April 15). No air movement during the nights which made it very stuffy. They did bring us a fan but it was uncomfortable even so. For reference, another hotel turned our AC on for our room though they don’t for the whole hotel until later in April.

It was the perfect location in the quiet town of Varenna. We loved our balcony view, the access to the botanical gardens and the incredible sunsets. The staff was exceptional. Marco helped us with a booking we made via another resource. For other travelers, please allow this hotel to manage your experiences! They have access to more at better pricing. We overpaid by not booking through the hotel.

Only small issue for the town in general is that at weekends there tends to be a lot of day trippers but I can’t blame them as it is stunning there

Not much really- prices are pretty steep in the bar/ restaurant but you’re paying for the views!

Just a brilliant hotel, great views, breakfast was fantastic, and the view was incredible. Rooms were great too! For a special occasion in the Italian alps this has to be right up there, Varenna is also a beautiful spot and really handy to the train station,

Our bathroom was about the smallest we have ever experienced, in any hotel around the world, no bigger than 1.80m x 1.40m in total, so it was a bit of a tight squeeze. Nevertheless we had a view of the lake and we would still highly recommend this hotel but next time we'd pay a little extra for a lake view, with a balcony.

The location of the hotel is perfect, with a wonderful view over Lake Como. A short walk from the train station at Varenna, less than 10 minutes, as well as being only a 5 minute walk from the ferry. Plenty of bars and restaurants within a few hundred yards of the hotel. Very helpful and friendly team looking after us. The breakfast set up was fantastic, tables overlooking the lake, then, food wise, everything you might want, hot or cold, absolutely loads of healthy options, delicious!

The junior suite was fabulous and the view of the lake outstanding. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

We had the suite and it was incredible. The view from our balcony was phenomenal! The room was comfortable, the staff were fantastic, we couldn’t have asked for a better location on the lake. If you’re going to Lake Como, Hotel Royal Victoria is the only place you need to stay!

Amazing base for 4 days sight seeing in Florence! Rooms were huge, classic and well airconned. The rooftop was not quite what it seemed but were able to have a great view over the square regardless.

Nothing it was lovely.

This hotel was lovely. It had a pool and access to a lake beach as well as outside dining but it still felt charming and traditional. The rooms were clean and pretty. A big thank you to the staff who were very helpful and friendly and looked after our bags when we arrived early and checked out late. There was also a shuttle service to the station and ferries.

The bed was too firm. I woke each day with back pains.

Though our room was not lake view, we had the perfect view of the church. We enjoyed a symphony from our window view on the first night and a concert on our last night. We looked forward to the amazing breakfast each morning. Every selection of food and drink was offered and of course the view was enjoyable. ALL of the staff were friendly and kind and made sure we were comfortable and all our needs were being met.
