The receptionist was not the most pleasant person in the world. He was very impolite while asking for a copy of my credit card (both sides). Even though I have been visiting many countries and stayed in a lot of different hotels, THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST TIME to hear something like this!!! He was assuring me that it was a regular procedure, but the last time when I was at the same hotel, noone had asked me for that! Really uncomfortable situation.

As a family of 5, we were offered an extra bed for 30 euros per night, which is very fair in terms of price. However, the room on the mezzanine floor was like a better broom cupboard.

Central location, friendly staff, quiet rooms, delicious breakfast. But the villa is quite run-down structurally. Certainly not a 4-star hotel.

Just a little thing. The in room refreshments lacked spoons, and milk. Also the room guide and the pool instructions showed that there was a charge for using the pool, but this was incorrect. Outside to the rear of the hotel there is a nursery, which operated late into the evening, and was quite noisy, as kids can be.

The hotel in huge grounds. The hotel is just outside the Florence restricted area - by about 5 metres. If arriving by car, please be careful where you park, since it is not easy to know where to park without a big fine. The hotel charges 25 Euro per day for parking.

I had the smallest room but it was just what I needed! The bed was not to my liking... very hard for my taste.

We had an only room next to the main corridor and staircase which was completely non-soundproof so each noise next to the door was awakening us. The room should be renovated.

There should be nets on the windows to protect from mosquitoes. Some small repairs and refreshing of the walls would make this place really great.

The location is perfect, especially if you come by car. It has its own parking (additional fee is paid) and it is just before the ZTL zone. And it is 15 min. walk to all major tourist destinations. The staff is helpful and pleasant. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is OK.

One of the 2 rooms we booked had a slight scent. No issue though in the second room.

The location of the hotel is at walking distance from all major city attraction, but outside the ZTL area so you can arrive by car without worries (but pay attention to the routes you choose!). Good variety of food for breakfast. Nice building and a beautiful large garden.

The Villa Royal is in a good location. Breakfast was great with a good selection. The atmosphere was very relaxed. We would like to say a 'special thank' you to the lady, the 'reception manager' who was understanding and ensured we were happy with our stay. We would stay here again sometime.

Room was a good size and the bathroom as well. The breakfast was very pleasant and the location was not too bad, a little out of the center of town, but that meant it was quite. The pool was muchly appreciated after walking around Florence.
