Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

When you are at the heart of the city, some bars and restaurants are located nearby. Although doors and windows are well isolated, some notices shall come from the street.
Hotel communication started before Check In process and all went smooth when we arrive the facility. Entrance was a bit tricky but our parking place and room was waiting us. Very helpful staff. High quality bed and bed sheets. Nice refrigerator and a modern TV was inside our room. Property is located at the heart of the city with it’s secure parking place, shortly very high Price/Performance ratio

The hotel tries to be ecologically friendly, so the towels are changed every 4 days and hot water is available for 20 minutes. I thought it would be better if the hot water was available a bit longer like an hour.
The location is very good, one minute from Massimo Bellini Theater. The quality of the hotel is high. The owner is very nice.

Could be noisy in summer, but double glazed so probably fine with closed windows and aircon on.
The easy communication was fantastic. It’s the main thing I look for when staying in a new place as it takes the stress off completely.

I'm glad we stayed at Hotel Trieste. first of all, the owners and employees took great care of us, from the first to the last day. We were welcomed with cold Prosecco and coffee and upon leaving we received a small souvenir as a gift. The room was spacious and very clean and the breakfast tasty. The hotel is located right in the center and we also received recommendations for visits and dinners. Thank you very much and we will be back for sure

Extremely convenient location, very close to piazza Duomo and to the places one may want to visit in Catania. The central lively location also means that it can get quite noisy, as there are many restaurants/bars around. The hotel also has private parking (20 euros per night) which is very convenient if you travel by car. Breakfast was very good, too (although the breakfast room is a bit small) and the staff was nice and helpful. The rooms were good, if a bit oldish.

The lighting in the room was poor.
The pastries at breakfast were excellent. Innkeepers were very friendly and accommondating. Location was convenient (within walking distance) to everything we wanted to see.

The signage to hotel could be improved... street was a little bit grubby and we were not sure we were in the right place.
Lovely little hotel in fab location...perfect for our purposes. Staff were superb...kind, attentive and helpful. Lovely fresh pastries in the morning and nice breakfast buffet.

The owners greeted us, after check in they even offered us an espresso. Had a bit of a nice chat and booked us in a lovely fish restaurant off the beaten path. It’s a family run hotel they are very gracious and excellent hospitality
