Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

CanadaThe location is far from the Omi-Hachiman town center (and in extension the station as well). Though there is a direct bus connecting the station to the property, and the bikes provided shortens the travel to any spots in the town significantly (don't think there was anything that took over 20 min).
For the price, you get the entire place for your travel group (which is quite big). There are also bicycles available that can be used (really enjoyed biking around near the rice patties)

I saw this holiday entire home in the search page, I booked it immediately. Turned out that it was a very best decision that I made. Omihachiman is such a beautiful small town that has small canal flows through and surrounded by Lake biwa. We got to enjoy a 120 years old Traditional Japanese house by ourselves. And the house is located in a small local village only 1km from the lake biwa, so many sakura and rice field around. The owner picked up and sent us off from the train station, they speak well english, and also lent us 2 bikes to explore around which was really helpful. I keep thinking of the time that we were riding bike in the rice field, going through the sakura lane to the lake biwa. It is just too beautiful to describe

AustraliaWe had this delightful traditional home all to ourselves. It was a classic Japanese style with modern amenities like bathroom and kitchen. A little sun porch overlooked the cute little garden. The communication with our host was excellent ( he spoke English) and he kindly transported us to and from the train station. We made good use of the bicycles provided and really got to explore everywhere from the lake to the city moat that winds through the old town. It was a great place to explore. We stocked up on groceries from a big supermarket a short bike ride away. We stayed 2 nights and loved every minute of it.

A lovely, traditional and comfortable home in a quite village. We really enjoyed walking around and exploring the area by car. A very relaxing place. I loved drinking my morning coffee in the little sunroom.

NetherlandsThere is no supermarket nearby - as in within 3km (we had no car, only bikes). In our case no problem because we had done all the groceries shopping before our arrival. Otherwise, it would have been a short ride (certainly not insurmountable).
A whole Japanese house for ourselves with everything you wish! It was lovely and clean! For the check-in we had an appointment with the nice owner. He was there at the agreed time and his explanation in English was clear.

SingaporeNot convenient if there is no car.
Good experience in an old Japanese house. Nice little garden, listening to the rain with a cup of coffee. The surrounding is very quiet. We get to cook dinner with meat and vegetables bought in a supermarket, something we always want to do in Japan. And it was just great as it was raining the whole day and we cannot do any sightseeing. So we just bought all the meat and vegetables and returned to the house early.

ThailandWe loved everything 💜 ❤️ Quaint, old house, beautifuly furnished. 6 byclyes available to use during your stay. Beautiful countryside, lovely village 15 mins cycle away....we are not into cycling but really enjoyed it, that say a lot !!! Amazing bamboo forest 10 mins cycling towards village, empty re people....beats any bamboo groove in Kyoto, absolutely STUNNING!!!!! We bought food and cooked at the house. Lots of fresh beef !!!! I can't rate this place highly enough............we stayed end of November, so also had wonderful colours of autumn leaves. We were met at the station, taken to the house and explained in perfect English, how to operate heating, door locks etc...... The owner then took us back to the station....and what surprised us was, he waited till we got into the station and waved us goodbye. 👋 Perfection 🥰 💞 🥰 to the end of a most memorable stay we will never forget. Ps, 2 nights is not enough....stay longer if you can

SingaporeVery far from everything - 10 minute drive from the nearest supermarket with no convenience store around. Definitely need a car to get around, though the bicycles help. There is a washing machine but it looked sort of old and we didn't use it.
This is actually an entire house, it's over a hundred years old (the host grew up in it) but renovated - bathroom is new and a delight to wash up in. We really enjoyed our stay here in this quiet house nestled in a very residential neighbourhood. Has a wonderful garden and bicycles - including smaller sized bicycles for smaller people. Very kind and helpful host. I was sick and when I messaged to ask where the nearest doctor or pharmacy was, and the host and staff came to the door with a car to take me to the pharmacy to get medicine. Close to a place to swim in Lake Biwa.

NetherlandsThere are some kitchen appliances that didn’t work. Luckily there is an abundance of them so you will still be able to prepare your dish.
If you want to experience the country side in a traditional Japanese house this is the place! It is a big house with a great garden which can hold a large group in a small neighborhood.

JapanThe Guesthouse isn't near to anything, however Yuki offered to drive us past a grocery store before we checked in. The bikes needed a service but they were incredibly useful.
The air conditioner was very good. The grounds are gorgeous. Rooms are spacious. Yukiko-san was very kind to drive us to and from the station and she made check in very easy. Information about the area was very detailed too. We rode down to the beach - it's a bit hairy crossing the coast road but worth the effort to see the sunset. If you're really organised, take a hibachi and have a BBQ at the beach like the locals did.

NetherlandsWe hit our heads several times badly on the doors, unusual planks and the lamps. I think it would be useful to put up warning signs or use protective layers to prevent harm.
Very high price quality. Authentic Japanese with comfortable beds. Amazing little garden. Very useful to have bikes and to use it for the supermarket or to go omihachiman. It is bigger than it looks in pictures. It has 4 separate rooms and a big kitchen.
