Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomProperty feels a bit tired but you can’t complain at the price. Futon based are thin - I used two for better comfort.
Great location and few minutes walk from the main shrines. Good sized tatami mat rooms and indoor/outdoor onsen. Good dinner and breakfast included.

AustraliaNo shower in the room, they say they have a shuttle but they don’t. We know it was tatami and futons but for us oldies a thicker mattress under the futon would bE great

United States of AmericaI didn't enjoy the cold sensation inside the room. They saldy did not provide a heater; and the cold during the mornings is freezing.
I enjoyed the hot tub located in the facility. Also the Meals provided for lunch and dinner were fabulous. A truly japanese experience. Also is really close to so Manu attractions so that's a huge plus.

MalaysiaWe are not Japanese so not really use to sleep on tatami bed. There is a kid running around and you can hear it clearly.
Good location, near to the main attractions. Love the onsen in the hotel too, not too crowded. They can pick you up from the train station before 11am or after 3. But I couldn’t make it within the time, I am able to take bus from the train station to the hotel, not so far takes around 15-20 mins. The dinner is good, breakfast is nice too. Thanks to the staff send me to train station the day i leave, it’s heavy rain that day, thanks a lot really enjoy my stay.

AustraliaThe toilet and vanity facilities need to be refurbished. Food presentation is good for dinner and breakfast. However, the quality of food can be improved.
The location is great just a stroll away from the Nikko Toshogu Shrine. We enjoy the traditional Japanese decor of the hotel, and sleeping in futons. The room is clean. The outdoor onsen is great.

BulgariaThe onsen pools are small in size - one inside and one outside. Luckily there weren't a lot of other guests so I could enjoy them in peace. The portions of the food served at breakfast and dinner were big but each time you'd get something similar with the previous one so you kind of get tired of it.
The staff was very kind. The room was spacious. The location is top. The area is very quit and peaceful.

Singaporea bit more flexibility in mealtimes, but i do understand why they had fixed timings.
having an on-site onsen and rotenburo was the best. the room was a good size with a quiet, private veranda. meals were very filling and tasty, and the staff were very kind and friendly. has a good location near shinkyo bridge, and is about 10m walk from the nearest bus stop (which is the end of main street) and 10m away from lawson and very close to the toshugu shrine area. but if you're at nikko you're probably expecting to walk. thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

United KingdomIt was a little bit cold inside the ryokan. But these are olf buildings. So, I was expecting this to be the case.
The property was very close to the major attractions. You can walk pretty much anywhere. The staff was extremely polite and food delicious. It was my first time staying at a Ryokan and I loved it.

NetherlandsThe location is a bit outdated but that may be also the charm of this place. For children there are no separate food options.
A true Japanse ryokan experience. Traditional Japanse customs: indoor slippers, onsen, futon floor beds, Japanse food only, great & friendly hospitality and transport to train station services. All highlight within walkable distance.

Great location, very friendly helpful staff. Enjoyed the onsen and bath. Nice having tea and coffee available. Breakfast great. Reasonable price. Recommend having the dinner (kaiseki, where you get a range of dishes) for at least one night. Authentic experience.

United States of AmericaThe facilities are a diamond in the rough, it is a very beautiful place but it seems like it is not being taken care of. The carpet was dusty and everything in general looked a bit rough due to aging and probably guests.
The staff was very nice, polite and very professional. The kaiseki dinner was just incredible! The onsen was very relaxing. My partner has tattoos and we were not able about to use until after 9pm.
