Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We’re currently testing a weighted review system in Malta, Iceland, Australia, Greece, Brazil, and North Carolina. For properties in these areas, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandWe discovered futon mattresses were not for us.
The host was delightful. We enjoyed the traditional ryokan experience. It was nice to have lots of space and completely separate bathroom and toilet.

United States of AmericaThe futons isn't the most comfortable, but I was able to stack two and sleep well. There is a 23:00curfew to be aware of, which can be troublesome if you are a night owl with no set plans; but you can speak with the host in advance to stay out later. In that case, you will receive a code for the side door that lets you return past door locking time.
Ryokan Fuji is a comfy stay close to Shin Koiwa station. I booked here since I wanted to use the Chuo-Sobu line to access Nakano and Akihabara for last minute shopping trips. I think if you need to cut East/West across Tokyo, this can be a good option that doesn't have many transfers. It also a good option if you need to transfer to Haneda airport, as I did. Its hard to review the pricing since I had to book my stay for Golden Week, but it seemed to be good value compared to other options available at that time. Golden Week generally means that inner city bookings become very pricy, so staying in Shin Koiwa was a decent compromise for my budget. Right outside the hotel is a konbini which can come in handy for a quick resupply. Share bikes are available in the area via Hello Cycling(and maybe other options; I didn't check). I used Hello Cycling to bike toward Tokyo Disney and then back up toward Akihabara which was pleasant. It seemed to be a one man operation during my stay. The host was accommodating and always seemed to be available quickly. I was never left waiting for anything and he was able to handle any minor troubles I had. The room is clean and comfortable, and has a nice Japanese aesthetic to it. The bathroom and shower were clean and worked as expected. There is a small selection of Manga which was nice.

United States of AmericaNeeded to bother the host to return late and get room key back. Possibly, a code lock on the door would work better.
Very accomodating host. Short walk to station to connect to the wider Tokyo area.

United States of AmericaNothing except we had to bother the owner when coming in at late hours.
We chose it for the Ryokan type facility. Typically, Ryokans are larger than the typical Japanese hotel rooms. This was ample and pleasingly clean. We loved the 711 across the street.

United States of AmericaIt was a bit far from Tokyo, and the curfew made things a little bit difficult to plan evenings, as we didn’t want to disturb anyone while coming in.
Located on a quiet street in a Tokyo suburb, Ryokan Fuji was a wonderful place to stay on the first leg of our trip. It was very comfortable, and the proprietor was extremely kind.

United States of AmericaIt is a little out of the way in the Edogawa area but strictly speaking only 30 minutes by subway to Tokyo Station or to Ginza and the major metropolitan hubs
It was a quaint Ryokan which we wanted to experience- with tatami mate and traditional beds on the floor and really low table and "chair" on the floor! Nice to experience this in Japan. Fantastic service by our innkeeper. Lots of good restaurants and convenience stores in a residential neighborhood. Quiet and relaxing. Arigato gozaimasu!

GermanyI had a lovely stay in a traditional Japanese room. Normal western hotels are boring, you're in Japan after all. The host speaks some English (which really is not a given here at all) and he was very friendly. The futon was comfortable and I had no back problems at all. It's 20-35 minutes away by train from the major attractions, but for the price I'm not complaining. The train station is 5 minutes away anyway, so it wasn't even a problem.

United KingdomThere was no access to the building after 9pm . If you wanted to get back in you had to ring and disturb the owner. He was absolutely fine with me coming in late but I felt bad disturbing him at 2am , so a key method to open the main door would be very helpful.
The owner was very friendly and accommodating to foreigners.

United States of AmericaCould have used a microwave. Area around the train station is a bit sketchy.
The ryokan was clean and well maintained, and my room was spacious (for Japan). The shutters do a very good job blocking out light when you want to sleep in. The host was very kind and diligent about helping me with my bags, cleaning my room, and seeing me in and out.

SpainFor one month I traveled all around Japan. Tokyo, Kinugawa Onsen, Yamagata, Kyoto, Nara, Osaka, Koyasan, Hiroshima, Sendai ... For the end of my trip, I chose this beautiful place based on the good reviews and nice pictures. It was beautiful and amazing. First because of the kindness and cheerful personality of the owner. He was always very helpful and attentive, a real example of the hospitality and thoughtfulness Japan is famous for. He always welcomed me with a smile and made me feel like home. Then, the hotel itself and the room. It was quiet, comfortable, and clean. The architecture of the room makes it all very comfy (bath/shower, sink are WC separated). The room itself was the most spacious I stayed in, with futons and sheets that were inviting to rest. The towels were beautiful and fluffy. Lastly, the location. Some people would give this ryokan a second thought because it is not close to the popular neighborhoods around the Yamanote line. In reality, it is incredibly close to Akihabara and Tokyo station, and 10min or less away from the metro. This facilitates your trips around Tokyo if you want to visit other cities. Thank you for your Omotenashi, the good tea, and the amazing room. ありがとうございます!

United States of AmericaThe staff was extremely kind and the location was perfect. It was close to the trains, buses, and delicious restaurants! In fact, we were able to catch a bus straight to the Haneda airport for 1100 yen from the train station (which was about a 5-10 min walk from the ryokan). The space was extremely roomy and clean with helpful amenities (like a mini fridge). We loved our stay!

GermanyThe landlord is outstandingly friendly. He speaks good English. He is exceptionally flexible (e.g. I once returned late, and he had already prepared the keys for me to pickup) and shows a keen intent to provide complete customer satisfaction. The rooms are clean, the futon is great to sleep on. There's a water cooker and good tea provided in the room, plus TV and fridge. Best thing: There's air condition with an English manual. The hotel is quiet, and so is the neighborhood. There are a lot of konbinis and a supermarket within a 100m radius. Also, there are very diverse restaurants located along the main road. The next JR train station (Koiwa) is less than 500m away; access by train is easy even with suitcases, because there are no steep kerbstones. It is easy to find the hotel; there's a clear sign on the main road. Distance between Koiwa station and Akihabara is less than 20 min (7 stations; the line also takes you to Shinjuku within another 9 stations).
