Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

We were very happy with our stay, the owners are very nice, they were kind enough to take delivery of a package for us (something we had forgotten at a previous hotel that was sent back to us) and to come and get us in the mountain when we were lost !! It is a bit difficult to find, especially if you arrive late and the sun is down. We recommend to try out the dinner, it is huge and delicious !! The rooms are very nice, with the most comfortable futons we've ever tried in Japan, honestly felt like sleeping in a regular bed ! The view is breathtaking from the rooms, and you can enjoy a peaceful and quiet moment sitting by the window with one of the books or mangas readily available on the first floor. The public bath is wide enough to accommodate a few people at the same time, and it felt very relaxing ! Thanks again for everything :)

United States of AmericaThis is a very authentic Japanese experience! Highly recommend it. The property is Japanese style and the owner was a great host - she prepared dinner and breakfast for us, and it was unique… She’s also super sweet and kind. If you’re only staying one night, I would recommend to plan ahead your arrival (it’s 3 hours away from Tokyo) to make sure you’re able to enjoy a nice hike on the afternoon, as you won’t be able to do a lot during the morning of the check-out.

United States of AmericaWish we could have stayed longer!
A wonderful view of traditional Japanese life as we experienced the tiny village and the traditional inn run by the family of a generational Shinto priest. Such pleasant people. The hotel was extremely clean and well kept. The Japanese style breakfast and dinner were exquisite and served with grace. We appreciated the thoughtfulness of a hot warmer placed in our futons on a chilly December night. A plus was the private Japanese style bath! We loved this gracious inn and the beauty of the mountain as we hiked the area, and when we visited the incredible Musashi-Mitake Shrine.

Hong KongI spent a night with the shukubo family Baba and Ari. They served me very friendly and sincerely, and both the dinner and breakfast are incredible. It feels like home every moment when you stay there, and I would probably visit again in next year.

JapanWe've stayed at this ryokan multiple times and every time is wonderful. The staff is lovely, and the rooms are exactly what I want from a traditional Japanese inn. The location is beautiful and the meals are delicious and worth every penny. The private tub feels so amazing after a full day of pretty strenuous hiking.

United KingdomI had a truly amazing experience staying here. The location is exceptionally beautiful and quiet, right in the mountains - a perfect setting to unwind. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. I had dinner and breakfast, which was truly exceptional. The bedroom and bed was very comfortable with an amazing view over the mountains. I also tried the onsen (first time ever) and fully enjoyed the experience. There are many walks and hikes, and I wish I had stayed for a few more days. I highly recommend staying here!

United KingdomEveryone was very welcoming. The food was amazing - definitely opt for dinner here. The bath was so big we didn't feel the need to visit the onsen. Location is excellent to get to the hiking trails and the shrine - hike to the top of Mt Odake if you want a great view of Mt Fuji.

SingaporeHosts were extremely hospitable and welcoming, and really made me feel at home. The lodge is situated on the mountain near Mitake shrine. You get a mountain view from the room. The room itself is very spacious, clean and comfortable. There's a bath made from cypress wood that you can reserve. Both the breakfast and dinner were very delicious. It's very quiet and peaceful, and there are many hiking trails that can be accessed easily.

ItalyNothing, we can't wait to go back! Just be aware that to go to the accommodation and to the temple you need to walk up a steep uphill, so don't take big luggage.
Everything. The view, the room, the kindness of the hosting family, the temple nearby and the beautiful nature trails. It was also very nice to experience traditional Japanese dinner and breakfast cooked and served with a lot of love. The public bath that can be privately booked for 1 hour per day was the cherry on the cake.

Our host was very friendly and accommodating. We had dinner and breakfast here; the food was delicious. We had a view down the mountain, looking over the trees. We were able to reserve the onsen for one hour privately which was a big bonus. Our stay here was absolutely perfect. And to top it off, when we were leaving, it had started raining heavy and our host gave us two umbrellas as gifts so that we wouldn’t get wet. She was extremely kind. This was our first ever stay in a ryokan, and it was perfect. We would like to come back and stay again sometime in the future.
