Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.

The staff are too nice and they even listened to hour difficult requests. Really really nice people. Rooms get cleaned daily. Also, the location of the place is really good. Their sauna on the 9th floor is amazing.

Shared facilities (lifts, corridors, etc) were quite dirty and need some maintenance.
Great experience staying in a traditional Japanese room. Right next to Dotonbori which is a PLUS! Nearest subway station is a 3min walk. Lots to do and see around the area. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Roof spa is extremely overpriced for what you get. They don't need to lower price, they need to offer more. Minimum a heated tub to soak in that fits 2 people should be added. Room isn't perfectly clean, hotel has a strage sewage smell. Outer windows need to be upgraded to block more noise, the hotel itself is quiet but double glazed glass would have made the experience far more enjoyable. Also there needs to be a bank of vending machines in lobby for drinks and snacks.
Location and staff were very good.cant stress enough how good the staff are. Hotel feels very safe and staff are always helpful.

Amazing location with beautiful views of Dotonbori street and the river. Very good sized room and we loved the traditional style of the room. Amazing nights sleep and very welcoming staff.

For my first time in Japan, Yamatoya impressed me so there’s nothing I disliked
The room is moderately sized, not too small. I love the traditional vibe. My stay there was too short so I couldn’t fully enjoy the room. If I return to Osaka, I’ll definitely stay there again

I'm just not used to sleeping on futons but it was still comfortable. ^^
I really love the ryokan style accomodation. It was super cool to experience it. The facilities were great and the staff were super friendly. The location is super convenient to everything.

We had a great location near many places to eat and a couple blocks from the subway. We had awesome breakfasts with too much to eat. We did 2 days of traditional Japanese breakfasts and 2 of Western breakfasts,

The hotel is abit dated. We also should have stated that some members of our group do not take beef so they can be better prepared in the meals.
We love the location. It was conveniently located near to the entrance of Dontoburi street. We also loved the staff friendliness.

There was a tea set in the room, but no coffee set-up.
The location was excellent! It is just off the main strip of Doutonbori - so it was an easy walk to all the shopping, entertainment, and restaurants. The breakfast was also really delicious and beautifully presented. The staff was very helpful, especially handling our luggage transfer and even printed some documents that we had forgotten to print. The room was traditional Japanese, but it had all the amenities that we needed. And, of course, the traditional robes were fun.

They should have provided a conditioner in the shower room. The shampoo made my hair very dry too. The towels were a bit too thin. Also, the TV didn't work but we didn't complain. If we had, maybe the staff would have helped with it since they seemed polite and helpful.
I have always loved the traditional Japanese style rooms with tatami mats and futon beds so because of those aspects, I really liked this room. Other than this, the location was also great and right next to the Dotonbori district. When we first arrived, there was only a table with 2 chairs in the middle of the room and we were told that someone will arrive between 5-7pm to put the futon beds which they did. It was a little uncomfortable since we were coming from a long journey and wanted to lie down straight away but overall, not too much problematic because we checked-in closer to that time anyway but if we checked-in earlier than I think it would have been. The shower was comfortable. Overall, it was a good stay.

The futons were a little thin, and the room could do with better soundproofing.
Wonderful staff, outstanding location, really enjoyed soaking in the onsen downstairs.

The prices I was quoted on this website and the price they charged me where significantly different. I paided over 5,000 yen more than expected, but didn't keep any documentation so I just paid extra.

The toilet/drainage smelt really bad in our room and it made using the bathroom really bad which was inconvenient.
Loved the location, loved the traditional ryokan and the service from staff was good.

The stairs in the hotel were very steep and probably not up to code (based on North American standards). Best to use the elevator.
The location was excellent. Very close to Dotonburi and shopping. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We were able to leave our luggage there until we had to check in at our second hotel. The omakase dinner was very interesting and we all enjoyed trying all the different courses.
