Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

KenyaThe staff could be more friendly
Ziwa was great, staff was good. The food portions were good too. It's not a place you go to have activities, it's a place you go to have peace and quiet and that we achieved.

It’s a cozy lodge with good food. The story behind the Ziwa Bush Lodge is also meaningful - that an Australian come far away to support the orphanage here. I’m glad to stay at the lodge to know not only African animals but the Africans. Do ask the property to arrange a visit to the orphanage during your stay.

NetherlandsThe check out process was a bit lengthy because there was no one at reception and we had to wait.
We kindly got upgraded to an executive room, which had more space. The hut was clean, beautiful, as are the hotel grounds. A serene place, it's like being in a playlist with birdsong. When we asked for some bread post-lunch time, because we were hungry after a morning game drive, we were kindly given toast and minced meat pastries for free. Dinner and breakfast were abundant and freshly prepared too. A wonderful experience and I recommend people to stay here.

Netherlands- standard room, small, worn, no real garden / balcony furniture The standard room we had was very basic. it’s nice that it’s a small cottage, but the interior is very simple and quite dated. The bathroom looks worn and a bit dirty - even though I don’t think it is. The bed is ok.
it’s a nice lodge, lots of space, green, the restaurant area - on a small lake - is great. Food is pretty good.

United KingdomFood was ok we stayed here for 3 nights were the menu changed each night which was nice although cannot say we had a memorable dish here.
staff were very friendly and helpful. The owners greeted us and ensured our stay went well. The rooms were lovely and clean and the shower was very warm and powerful with plenty of towels. At night it can get cool and rain in Nakuru where they provide thick duvets and hot water bottles this is a nice touch even though we did not need these.

Beautifully designed african style lodge in the middle of the bush in Nakuru. The place was built by the owner in order to finance the kids orphanage he has been managing for the past 25 years. That alone is a reason to book this amazing hand made lodge. Every time you book their room, you actually finance the Kenyan kids orphanage! The surrounding is amazing - everthing is green and the rooms are very beautiful. The pool area is very nice, although we didn't get to enjoy it because it was raining. There is a large pond outside the dinning area which really adds to the scenary. Highly recommended!

AustraliaI think they can improve a little on meals especially the variety offered for vegetarians/vegans.
Ziwa Cottage was such a pleasant surprise. The place is cuter and more serene in person. I especially loved being surrounded by nature, the friendliness of the staff and cushiness of the bed! At night you can see the beauty of the shining stars - it really feels like you’re somewhere magical!

United KingdomThere weren’t many people staying when we were there so the atmosphere was a little lacking. the lake overlooked by the restaurant could do with significant maintenance.
Rooms were spacious, and nicely styled. grounds were well kept and attractive - really nice pool and restaurant. Food was good and staff very helpful and pleasant.

United States of AmericaLack of communication regarding additional fees and important information when booking LN Park game drives. The added surprise fees made excursions much more expensive than originally communicated. When we brought the issue to the staff, they were not open to discussion and dismissed our concerns. Also, the hotel's inflated exchange rate for USD currency was extreme.
The room was spacious and the meals were good. The lodge is small and quaint, feeling personal and pretty quiet.

KenyaThe meals could do more with variety. Include all food groups and spice this up with different menus. Additional activities for the children will be appreciated. Consider including organized trips to the nearby game reserves.
