Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomSome minor suggestions: - It's a bit unclear how to contact the staff when you're there, with no desk etc - In the room, a bedside table would be nice! Also the lighting is quite harsh, a warmer light bulb and a lamp shade (or table lamp) would help! - A tiny thing but if they gave guests a water bottle in the rooms I think it would be really appreciated
Lovely and helpful staff, clean and comfortable rooms, tasty breakfast, nice towels

United KingdomNo hooks in room to hang things on No rubbish bin in rooms I had the single room which I had to access through the Dormitory which meant I was disturbing sleeping travellers!! Breakfast was at 8am and Fried eggs were cooked and placed on table whilst some folk were still in bed or just getting up... which meant they had very cold eggs for breakfast!! I found that strange..
Warm welcome from host with tea bread and home made jam. Accessible to Main Street and shops/bazaar and supermarkets. Comfy beds Big windows that opened Had access to family kitchen and made to feel part of family home

Kuban and mom were so kind. Their breakfast was the best. I would come back again to karakol soon and be very likely to stay at their place. I was out for a hike for 5 days, I was able to dry out all my stuff in the garden at the back. Very spacious place.

South KoreaMy stay at My Guesthouse was an absolute delight. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with the warmest and most genuine hospitality by the host family, making me feel right at home. The guesthouse is centrally located, which made it the perfect, convenient base for exploring all that Karakol has to offer. I was able to walk to many of the main sights and restaurants easily. The owners are incredibly helpful and consistently went out of their way to ensure I had a comfortable and enjoyable stay. They were always available to help with any questions I had. The guesthouse itself is impeccably clean, the beds are comfortable, and it offers incredible value for money. A huge plus was the reliable and fast Wi-Fi.

AustraliaThis guesthouse is one of Karakol's gems where you can live with and get to know a Kyrgystani family. The hostel is centrally located with what is probably Karakol's best international restaurant just around the corner. The owners Kuban and Ulanna are friendly and very generous. The dormitory room was huge but only had four beds. Hot water in the old style bathroom is almost instantaneous. Every morning, there is a lovely breakfast with as much as you can eat with three types of delicious homemade jam. I was also given extras at other times of the day including bowls of okroshka, a classic Russian cold soup. And if you are feeling peckish you can eat garden fruit that is in season. For me it was rasberries and cherries. The Wifi is strong and always on. At night, after about 10 am there is no noise at all. Value for money this is probably the best deal in Karakol.

Czech RepublicEverything was Ok. We spent two nights here before the trek and will definitely come back after the trek. The owner Kuba is very helpful and kind. He understands english and russian. It is not a problem to wash clothes or leave excess equipment here. For breakfast tea/coffee, vegetables, salami, eggs or pancakes, bread, sweets.

Kuba was really nice. Welcoming and helping. Communication was good and fast as we booked in the evening. Breakfast were great for the price.

HungaryI booked it with Genius so I got the private room for the same price as a bed in the dorm room and the grandma could not understand it and gave me the feeling like she makes me a favour that I can stay in the private room - dont like that feeling

CanadaThe private twin room is attached to the dorm and you have to walk through the dorm, so neither is very private. You can hear the guests in the dorm since it is just a thin dorm separating. Not a big deal just to be aware if you want privacy. Rooster near the property quite loud starting at 5am
Host very nice and welcoming, great location, good value and breakfast was a bonus. Laundry for a good price too!
