The owners were always helpful. They didn't speak a lot of English but always made sure that we understood one another! Lovely breakfast included eggs, fruit, bread, jam, coffee and fruit juice - at whatever time we asked for. Breakfast was served outside on the balcony on warm days. The room was a decent size, with a nice bathroom and very clean. We were picked up and dropped off at the bus stop/ airport at no charge. A lovely place and not far from restaurants.

Very good location near many things. I especially enjoyed the close proximity to the Nisha restaurant (with great vegetarian options) and the MAG Center that works on the de-mining activities in the area. The owner was also able refer us to great tour operators to see the Plain of Jars and other sites in the province.

Bit too expensive for the room

A bit overpriced the room, breakfast was ok, the owner was very helpful so I appreciate that. They organise scooter rental. Bus ticket and they came to pick me up fron the bus station. If you come here go visit the restaurant next door called Bombies, delicious Lao cuisine

The guesthouse facilities are a little bit old.

Very nice staff, try to solve all requests. Bathroom with very hot shower. They picked me up from bus terminal, organize bus ticket, bring to bus. Tour offers for reasonable price. The restaurant close to the guesthouse offers good food.

The bed was quite hard- which is pretty typical in most of Lao.

The Hillside Residence is located on a quiet street, within easy walking distance to the local market and eateries- or there is Bombies’ right next door (excellent food and outstanding tours run by Mr. Nouds). A good breakfast. Excellent WiFi. Laundry facilities available. The staff were excellent.

Location just outside village so everything was a bit of a walk but there is a Bombie restaurant that is quite good.

The patron was absolutely marvellous! So friendly and always willing to help. The family succeeded to create a cosy atmosphere, bit like a living room at home. Great breakfast and great support to explore the area. We were lucky to celebrate Hmong new year, which was a surprise and a gift.

What an enchanting and charming place! The hillside residence is just lovely. The family that run it are absolutely delightful and couldn’t be more welcoming and helpful. The shower is the BEST!!! The balcony where we had breakfast each day is also a lovely spot to watch the sun go down. There is an excellent restaurant just next door and it’s only a short walk to town. Perfect

The bed was a bit hard which is quite normal here in Laos. The cleanliness of the room to include the shower curtain and broken shower head could be improved. Cobwebs on the ceiling. The entire room could use some renovations as everything is a bit tired. The biggest issue was the "guide" service for the day. Upon agreeing to it and paying for it, we informed he really wasn't a guide but rather a driver and spoke little/ no English. When we asked questions about the area, or about our next stop, we heard nothing. If you are looking for a driver rather than a guide, then book with them. However I would encourage using other guide services for the area.

It was on a quiet area within a close walk to the town. They did pick up and drop off at the station for free. Breakfast s were good as long as you only want one cup of coffee.

Best place to stay in Phonsavan! We loved our time here. Hillside is run by a lovely family who goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. It is very clean, the breakfast is amazing, and the owner is extremely helpful arranging the travel to your next destination. For lunch or dinner, make sure to eat at Bombies, the restaurant next door -- delicious Laotian food run by another lovely family with an intimate history of the area (can highly recommend going on a tour with Mr. Nout).
