Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Sri LankaThe wash rooms could be upgraded a bit. The old tub with curtain is not my liking.
The colonial architectures and the lush gardens were really nice and calming. The rooms were very clean and also had the classic colonial touch

United KingdomThe garden chairs need cushions! Dinner was very slow in arriving but waiting in the Lounge Bar wasn't tiring.
This is a true heritage hotel. Some reviews mention the fact that it is in a time warp. This is true but it's lovely to find a place where you can be transported back half a century. It is comfortable and cosy, germutlich.

PolandWe had a small problem with overbooking but the staff found a way to solve it, help us and compensate us for the trouble. Initial bad experience became a good one and with a positive outcome.
It is a very unique place where you feel like you travel in time. The post colonial style of the building makes it very interesting and special. Everything is original, stylish and fits together. The staff is very friendly and helpful and always welcome you with a smile. Location is very central, you will find many shops and restaurants nearby. Food is excellent and very versatile.

CanadaNo pool, no recreational facilities at all, basically. The marketing mentions tennis but there is no tennis; they send you to a nearby tennis club that is sad and moribund and not included in the price. They have a billiard room but for some reason we’re not letting guests you use it. Not good.
Breakfast not included and for $10 US was infinitely bland and poorer in quality and quantity than what you would get at any family run guest house in Sri Lanka.

Sri LankaThe bed and the room were still setup in the old fashioned way, but it is their style, so I can understand.
The staff were exceptionally helpful, kind and courteous. They went out of their way to assist us and make our stay comfortable. The food (both breakfast and dinner) were excellent.

United KingdomThe property is literally in a time capsule - the history is so interesting to learn and several photographs and it has a whole tale of its own. My mother grew up in the local area and remembered it well. The staff were incredibly kind and attentive, more than willing to assist and the breakfast was tailor made according to our desires.

Sri LankaNothing actually. everything I wanted was available.
The building looks, well-waxed floors, are clean, the architecture, the history of the building, the large serviced garden space, the staff friendliness (there were one or two members of staff who forgot to greet with a smile or a simple hello). The location is right in the middle of the town, which makes it easy to explore the town.

Sri Lankathe hotel might be preserving its legacy by maintaining the structure of the hotel, but I think having in-room wifi, tiled bathrooms and good TV would do really good for the next gen travelers

United States of AmericaPower cuts during the day Lack of preparation for obtaining necessary fuel to run the generator Perhaps the towels can be a bit cleaner
Although the Hotel was not at fault, the power cuts during my stay made my stay somewhat uncomfortable. The generator was short of fuel. The restaurant and its staff were excellent Although the hotel is old, I find the stay very pleasant Hotel was also very accommodating for letting me leave a day early

Sri LankaBeds quality should be upgraded ,like duevet etc ... Bathrooms ok nice imperialistic British old age style ...nice to look but not functional or acceptable these days ..... Shower ok but you had to make big step up ,plus lift your leg up into a bath tub . Imagine a older person. ..not as sporty ..how he/she can take an easy shower . Of course it's an old Hotel with history ..and antic charms ..but still in modern days the bathroom is a aspect which I look very much into if it's good, and easy usaged..... Definately a nice historic bathroom ...and if walls could talk ..I would probably get red headed of what they have seen in past ...🤣 Today one can still do bathrooms in antic way but in a better accessible way .... Maybe here the only upgrade is needed .
Breakfast was real good ..tasty lot of choice and staff soo friendly . All in all a good stay ,foodwise, staff wise, friendliness superb ..👍👍👍
