Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. CyprusThere were quite a few mosquitos when we stayed in the beach villa. Don't forget to bring some repellant. No mosquitos in the sea villas. The resort tries to spray the mosquitos, but they are there anyway and will get you if not protected. Also, we stayed in May and maybe it was season related.
Nice resort! You will get to experience every aspect of the holiday in the Maldives, at a reasonable rate, such as a journey by the sea-plane, being greeted by the resort personnel with drums, staying at a secluded heaven-like resort with wonderful clean beaches and tropical vegetation, incredible coral reef all around with beautiful fishes, staying in the water villa. if you have never been to the Maldives, choose this resort. You will not regret it for a second. Special thanks to Veligandu for special treatment on the day of our anniversary: excellent design in the room with the flowers and swan sculptures on the bed, the bottle of sparkling drink in the ice bucket, specially decorated table at dinner. The reef is one of the best in the Maldives, no matter in which direction you will swim, you will see thousands of colourful fish. But an especially nice reef starts opposite the main restaurant. I swam around the whole island except the "airport" area. It was nice everywhere. CHOOSE SEA VILLA no matter how much more expensive it is. it is much better and the experience is from another world. We stayed at both (beach and sea villas), we can tell.

GreeceAlthough it did not create us an issue, I find it very bad that for such a hotel in all inclusive package, you do not offer all drinks or food free! The catalogue is split and there are extra charges for example if you want to have a fresh juice.
We enjoyed very much our stay and had a wonderful time.

Secluded island is a perfect place to stay in Maldives. Great staff help us with every request. They were still in touch with us during our stay. I highly recommend to book sunset water villa, with a perfect distance to coral reef. Variety of food and drinks served was stunning.

SpainPrice could be more manageable and services offered like leave us in Rashdooh island (7 minutes by boat) in a price more reliable.
Food was very variated with high quality and a lot of options. Room amazing with jacuzzi with direct view to the see. The staff very friendly and helpful, they compensated a delay to go to the island with a sunset boat trip and late check out including lunch. Great experience in a great island resort.

United KingdomNo criticisms of the resort, although note the costs for trips or spa treatments are to me costly. Also to note, when I booked the sea plane transfer I knew I would need to align with their schedule, then the resort timing is 1 hour ahead of Male (this is so sunrise and sunset are better aligned with the day). So 8am arrival in Mahe and 1pm arrived in Veligandu, but in time for lunch on arrival. The seaplane company bumped my baggage, even though my bag was in limits, but they said the all up weight of aircraft with pax was too much, so it had to come on a later flight. This spoiled the arrival experience to some extent. The resort were apologetic and gave us free wine and dolphin watching trip as a consolation, which was very much appreciated.
My first visit to Maldives, but the resort and location was fabulous. I chose Veligandu as I wanted to have the seaplane experience and this offered this at probably cheapest cost. Snorkeling close to shore was fantastic with plenty of varities of fish to see and a short trip to Wonder Rock provided an even greater variety. Saw Sharks and Mantarays swimming right next to the beach. The location is stunning, the staff so friendly and food offers a wide range of options and is of good quality. Resort is closing Summer 23 for a refurbishment, but nothing felt dated or worn out. The over water villa with jacuzzi was big and spacious, but note some accommodation does require a 5 minute or so walk to reception and restaurants.

LatviaIt depends what you are looking for as you not going to get that luxurious feeling inside of the villa, as it is quite old. However, I am sure the villas will look gorgeous after the renovation, what is expected to be this year!
This was one of our best experiences we ever had. We stayed for our honeymoon in the jacuzzi water villa with the sunset view. There are no words to describe how amazing the staff at this resort is. Thank you so much for making this trip so memorable and special for us!! Our host Alena was amazing, sweet and caring. The island is perfectly maintained, it is soo clean! Room service is done 2 times a day and was done extremely professionally. The food was delicious and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we had a great stay. I am allergic to mushrooms, and the stuff was really keen to prepare the same dish without them if I asked. I didn’t even needed to mention it again to the cooks as they remembered about my allergy and made sure I do not pick up some inappropriate dish accidentally in the following days of stay! Furthermore, head chef did quite a good job on creating a wonderful menu for a breakfast, lunch, buffer dinner and Christmas gala dinner! We were seriously impressed by the variety of food and interesting combinations of flavours!! Thank you so much! We have been to other two five-star resorts in Maldives, and honestly it is not even comparable! We met guests on Veligandu island, who had their second or third time stay here. I believe that if people are choosing the same resort again and again this indicates something.❤️ The island is quite small, but we were never bored here. We really enjoyed the house reef, because it is full of life! We saw turtles, different types of rays, ocellaris clownfish and many other types of fish, baby sharks and crabs are everywhere!! 🦀🦈 And finally, the bananas growing on this island are literally out of this world!!so tasty! 🍌 This resort is a true paradise!🏝️

Hong KongAlthough it is an all-inclusive package but we only managed to join a yoga class. The activities like windsurf/snorkeling/dolphin trip are not available every day, which is slightly disappointing. Also, there is a time difference for one hour between Male and the resort, so better to get in earlier.
The food are decent and the alcohol freeflow is great! We love the live band at night. The whole island is serene and quiet. It is the most beautiful island out of the three resorts I have been to with a stunning coastline. It has so many exotic plants planted. We love the design of the jaccuzzi which gave us some privacy at night. The room is spacious, cozy and very clean. The staffs will greet you with Maldives music and they are very warm and welcoming.

United KingdomThe hotel is undergoing a renovation in July for over a year. I understand they will renovate a lot of the rooms which is quite needed! But overall an excellent stay.
Food was exceptional. Although I was a bit concerned about having a buffet, there were plentiful options. The chefs were lovely, always willing to go the extra mile. Special shoutout to Ramesh, Suresh, Shivandra, Chandi! The layout of the island is excellent, lots of beach and sand space, with the bars and restaurants being on the beach as opposed to inland in lots of islands. Nice to have two bars too. The snorkelling was really good, great reef. However, lots of guests were walking on the reef and destroying the coral which is a shame, there should be a notice telling them not to.

Veligandu is the best hotel we have ever been and we have traveled a lot and been to Maldives several times. We had been here 9 years ago and it is still amazing. We have stayed in the Sunset Jacuzzi Beach Villas. They are more expensive but it is worth every cent. The snorkeling is amazing. In the sunset part you can see all kinds of fish species including several sharks. On the sunrise part from the pole through all the floats you can see an amazing shark and turtles. I have "lived" 45 min with a turtle. What an experience. The food is out of this world. The only thing they could get better is to have a coffee machine for cappuccino and expresso at Breakfast. No need to bring shoes. Everyone goes around bare foot. The sunset is just amazing and being in the water until there is the moon and stars in the sky is gorgeous. The Gala Dinner at Christmas is very worth it and a true experience. We all ate at the beach, feet in the sand, stars above you... what can you ask for more? The staff is0 very attentive and kind. Always willing to help and give us the best time possible. Our room attendant, Ashad, always kept our room pristine and every now and again included a amazing leaf art on our bed. As we were returning clients, they were really appreciative of that and went the extra mile with gifts.

CanadaThe room key had a tendency to get deactivated. We stayed four days (two separate bookings of three-days and one-day each as we decided to extend our stay at the last minute) and the key got deactivated twice. We called the person assigned to us and it took 20 minutes before he came and let us in. He sent a replacement key later. When the issue occurred again the next day, we again waited 20 or so minutes for someone to let us in. We asked for a replacement key, which was never brought to our room. When we inquired, he gave a variety of unconvincing reasons. We went to see a manager - believe her name was Crystal - who was absolutely focused on guest service. She took care of the entire problem for us and we never encountered another issue with the key. Had it not been for her, we would have rated the property low because of the way our contact responded to the situation considering Veligandu positions itself as a premium resort. Veligandu needs to invest in upgrading its room key system. We saw a few guests with similar issues at reception when we went to speak to the manager.
Wide variety of food choices, enough to cater for diverse taste and dietary needs. Food choices comprised of Maldivian, European, Asian (Chinese and Thai), Indian and Japanese (sushi) dishes in addition to a supply of fresh fish options. There was a wide variety of salad as well. The quality of food offered at breakfast, lunch and dinner was fantastic! The room are large and were very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated. The bathroom is also very big. The entire property is very well maintained and easy to walk around. We saw several sharks and stingrays. The area is great for snorkelying. Veligandu is a fantastic choice for a resort and we would definitely return!

Austriathe structure of the accommodation is absolutely fine, but you can see that the wood and small fixtures are showing age. We heard the whole island will close in 2023 for major renovations. although the savoury food was delicious and varied, the desert buffet was not very appealing. I also would like to have seen some sugar free desert/ sugar free small bites options.
the island is beautiful and the staff are very helpful/ polite. We saw plenty of marine life: turtle, sharks, rays and dolphins !
