We liked everything, the people who run it are incredibly professional and cannot do any more for you, which feels pretty unique. The community feel at the common areas is palpable and makes your stay much more welcoming/shareable (you're not a stranger in a big hotel). The location is unmatched. Close to all cool places of interest but at the same time not noisy.

I liked everything, really I can’t have a single negative comment.

Simply outstanding atmosphere, the staff kindness was a warm welcoming in my first trip to Oaxaca. It’s perfect if you are travelling alone, since you will meet a community of very interesting guests who are choosing Las Mariposas since many years for their holidays in town. The location is definitely one of the best, very close to the heart of Oaxaca, and despite that, at night my room was very silent and peaceful. I couldn’t chose a better place to spend my vacation, and I will definitely come back in the future!

very nice staff, comfortable rooms and beautiful garden. It is a place for longer stay for some elder people but they are very nice and friendly. Even if it is not reported you have breakfast offered and the nice common kitchen is useful if you stay longer.

A wonderful peacful, place in an otherwise busy location. The staff is exceptional and I appreciated their committment to Eco-tourism. This is my new favorite place! I look forward to my next stay.

People might expect more from breakfast, but many nearby spots for hot breakfast. There was a drought so had to conserve water.

The Mariposas is very popular with quite a few long term guests. With many public areas for outside seating it is a social place. The staff and management are excellent. My room was quiet and away from traffic. Kitchen available for guests.

The bed was not winning any comfort points

Location was great. Room was clean. It was a joy to awake to hot coffee and pastries right out in the hotel courtyard. Check in was easy even for being late at night and they let us keep our bags at the office for a while.

Although the property itself is very peaceful it is located on a busy street and you hear traffic almost all night.

Beautiful courtyards, charming rooms. Very ecological. Clean with nice towels and linen. Nice touches: loaner hats, umbrellas and bags.

The room had all of the amenities needed - outlets and light switches at the bed sides, hanging closet storage & shelves, on-demand hot-water, air conditioning & a fan. The common spaces were beautiful & cozy. The staff was friendly and present.

Maybe adding a standing/table fan in addition to the ceiling fan, but I knew I'd chosen a place without air conditioning!

Las Mariposas was really what I was looking for--small operation and affordable for a short stay. As the other comments noted it's pretty warm without air conditioning but I expected that when I booked. The outdoor spaces were very pleasant (and cooler!). Great wifi and appreciated that they provided drinking water. I enjoyed the simple breakfast and generally felt like it would have been a very welcoming place for a solo traveler to stay for a couple of days. Good location, too. The staff were also really great about letting me leave my bags for a few hours on check-out day. Would recommend!

HA -HA! Only thing I didn't like was leaving - wish we could have stayed longer!

The owners and staff were all friendly, helpful, and made us feel like we were part of the family. And the the facilities - oh my! It was beautiful, relaxing, and quiet - even though there is a busy street just outside!

It would have been really nice to have had air conditioning.

It was very nice with comfortable bed and nice bathroom with a kitchen and place to sit. The courtyards where very beautiful and nice to sit in the afternoon. Also we all felt secure behind the locked gates day and night. The staff were increíble. It is a short walk to Oaxaca by local tours , a huge park and the local markets. This is definitely a very special place.

The grounds were absolutely adorable-I loved all the cute details and all of the plants/succulents. So quiet and serene. I would definitely stay here again! We initially only booked 2 nights because we were not familiar with the city and weren’t sure if we would want to stay somewhere else for the rest of our stay. The location was perfect, and we were easily able to extend our stay, which we were appreciative of.

It was ver hot but the fan was of some assistance. We had a light in the court yard that shined in our eyes all night.

Breakfast was super basic but I enjoyed the coffee and the opportunity to socialize.

Friendly staff, clean facilities, great book exchange, great location. In the 5 places we stayed on our trip, this was our favorite!
