Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

We absolutely loved this stay. It’s a beautiful suite, we enjoyed our evenings there. The suite was super clean, and comfortable. The area is fantastic, just away from the noisy crowds but only by a short walk to many amenities. It was very quiet at night. It’s close to the train station and lots of other attractions. The neighbourhoods close by were great to explore. Henri our host was most sincere, gracious and helpful. The complimentary food supplied was very generous and appreciated. We would recommend this Huis Roomolen with enthusiasm. Should we ever return to Amsterdam, we would love to stay here again. Thank you Henri !!

Everything was wonderful.
Henri was a perfect host. Huis Roomolen was small but perfect for a one - or two night stay. The location is in a quiet neighborhood, just steps away from restaurants, transportation, and points of interest. It was a wonderful introduction to Amsterdam. Thank you, Henri and Mel.

It was fabulous. The apartment is situated in a little oasis of a location, a few streets from the station. It is very quiet and a perfect place to explore the city. We were met by the host and he talked us through everything. It has a sweet little terrace where we enjoyed our morning coffee! It was very comfortable and highly recommend.

Well equipped, little extra touches like milk, water, juice and fruit on arrival and enough tea and coffee to last our entire stay. Brilliant location with the added bonus of a small terrace. Friendly and helpful hosts who leave you in peace unless you need them.

We found the bed a bit hard but that might be personal choice!
Henri was so welcoming and we had a great stay. The studio is in a great location - on a quiet street but very near nice restaurants etc. We enjoyed feeding the fish in the little garden! Really enjoyed our time here.

Stylish, comfortable, and well equipped flat. Centrally located near some excellent restaurants and independent shops, it was also only a 10' walk from the train station. The street was very quiet and we both slept well. Henri was very helpful and quick to respond to any queries we had. 10/10.

Due to building regulation, the apartment door had no lock on it which took a bit of getting used to!
Excellent location. Very central and on a lovely quiet residential street. The apartment is exactly like the photos.

Only very one small negative point to note. The sink in the bathroom is extremely small making it difficult to use without water going on the floor. However this should not put you off from staying here.
Brilliant location, 10min walk from Central Station but in lovely, quiet pedestrianised street. Beautifully presented room with lovely facilities. Spotlessly clean. Mel and Henri are excellent hosts.

A bit small really. TV best viewed from the bed. But not an issue.
warm, comfortable, tastefully decorated, great location. Host (Henri) fantastic! Very accommodating, and he wanted us to feel welcome. Lots of thoughtful little touches. v helpful and informative.

apartment is amazing, perfect location! in the apartment there are everything you need, even more! apartment located in the quiet street, but in the center. around there are a lot of shops and restaurants! Hosts of apartment are fantastic, we arrived early in the morning, they left for us breakfast and allowed to check in earlier! it was the best apartment we’ve ever stayed! definitely recommend this apartment for staying in Amsterdam!!!!
