The heater was on when we got there, which was really pleasant to walk in to. A very tidy, quiet chalet with a loft for the sleeping area. Old school, but clean kitchen and bathroom.

There was nothing we didn't like or were unhappy with. It is old but well maintained, everything works fine. The bedrooms are upstairs and the stairs are narrow and steep. It would be a problem to those with physical limitations but was no problem for us.

This was excellent for the cost. It is a 'backpacker' type accomodation but was clean, cosy, everythinng worked well, staff were very helpful. If you are on a budget you will be very pleased, if you just like to save you will be very happy here. If you want luxury look elsewhere. But clean comfortable quiet handy, this is great. We are mid 60's and could easily pay more but like to save and we liked it and would stay here again.

Car problems delayed our arrival by a day and the inflexibility of the booking service meant a financial penalty. The motel proprietor was unable to contact Booking.com to try to sort it out. I am unlikely to use Booking.com in the future

    Ohakune is a pleasant spot

The older design, with a sloped ceiling in the bedroom and steep stairs, was a little inconvenient.

Practical place for us with a separate upstairs bedroom and car parking right outside the front door. Good laundry and outside lines to dry our gear. We really appreciated being allowed to store our bikes inside a secure room.

Cosy cabins on the outskirts of Ohakune

The place was looking a bit tired and the bed was a saggy (although I only tested one!) Technically you could have up to 6 people staying in one of these 1-bedroom cabins, which would have felt pretty cramped as the living space was quite small, but it was fine for 2 people (up to 4 would be manageable I think). It was a fairly long walk into town but an easy drive.

The chalet was cosy and the grounds were nice. We didn't actually see the staff but they left clear instructions. Definitely had more character than a motel room.

The sleeping arrangements were not great as we were all squished in together, and the stairs and just the upstairs in general were extremely noisy. Every time someone moved it was very loud. The stairs were really steep so hard to navigate at night.

The location of this accommodation was very beautiful. We had a perfect view of Mount Ruapehu which was just amazing! Having washing facilities was also very helpful as we are a family of 4.

The toilet's quite small. Also, I had to open wide one of the windows upstairs because it was so warm, and unfortunately, the air-conditioning's downstairs only. Then, a cat came in through that open window, which went through my bag.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the place was clean.

The chalets are made of wood internally, and no carpeting- so was very noisy. Could hear all downstairs movements from upstairs.

Ossie's was great! The owners were not there on check in (we arrived later in day), but left clear instructions with contact details. Our chalet was clean & tidy, and had great facilities whilst we got prepared for hiking the Tongariro Circuit.
