The fact that it rained so hard all day and we didn't get to see and feed the alpacas

I loved the location of the facility, very beautiful clean, comfortable accomodation, the host was extremely kind to give us home baked bread, jam, we will definitely be coming back soon, our boys loved every moment of our stay there.

Nothing. I would happily recommend Misty River Retreat to anyone, but suggest it is more suited to a few days relaxation with a good book, than an overnight stop.

We only stayed overnight in transit, but this is a lovely place that needed a few days to really appreciate. It was spacious and spotlessly clean and very private and secluded, given it was quite close to the main home. The hosts provided fresh eggs and homemade bread for breakfast. We only wish we'd had the time to feed the alpacas and enjoy the solitude.

This would be a perfect spot for a family. We were two couples so a bit small for us but we were aware prior to booking. The gas guns to scare off birds from vineyards nearby didn’t bother us and stopped at night.

The setting on the retreat was wonderful. Feeding the alpacas was a treat. The fresh bread and jam provided for breakfast as well as eggs was very special.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Misty Ridge Retreat. Beautiful & tranquil location. The place is spotlessly clean & beautifully decorated. The splash back in the kitchen is stunning. Really appreciated the home made muesli, jam, bread & farm fresh eggs. Fun time feeding the alpacas. Highly Recommended.

We loved the location and the peaceful rural environment. Feeding the alpacas was fabulous. Enjoyed all the little extras, fresh bread, fresh eggs and the list goes on!! Wonderful memories made here 😀

There is nothing that we didn’t like. You cannot fault this place at all.

Everything about Misty River is amazing. It is a must stay in Blenheim. Do not stay anywhere else. The property is tranquil and peaceful. Walking track around the river is magical. The retreat is beautiful inside aswell. All facilities available that you need. The retreat is a 100 out of 10, everything is clean and perfect. The hosts are amazing and friendly.

The home made plum jam, muesli and bread were delicious. I especially liked the fact that the property is part of the QEII covenant which protects this land for perpetuity. Loved feeding the alpacas too.

Everything. The entire cabin is spacious, clean and delightful. The bed is comfortable and running shower hot. Kitchenette is well equipped. The host is very generous with the breakfast supply. I came for the alpaca and I am very happy to see them up close.

Easily one of our best stays in NZ. Would love to come back for another visit.. and hopefully stay for more than 1 night. Owners take a lot of pride in making the visit comfortable and it shows up in the little details.

Very nice two bedroom lodge and kitchen was well-equiped with good quality utensils and crockery. Bathroom was nice too. The lodge was well-cleaned and maintained and looked spanking new. Behind the lodge (though a gate) were the owners' alpacas (and a sheep) that you can hand-feed. My son and wife had a great time with the alpacas. There was also a washing machine and dryer free to use with free detergent provided. Joanne the owner has put much thought into all the little details for the lodge that would make guests very happy. Excellent value for money. I will choose Misty River Retreat again on my next trip to NZ

It’s beautiful and located about 15 min from Blenheim town centre. It was tranquil, with a steam running through it. We got to hand feed some alpacas, and sheep. There were other animals including 2 pet boars, dogs, ducks and a variety of chickens. What a treat for a unique countryside living experience. The kitchen was fully equipped and Joanna, the owner generously provided basic cooking ingredients such as cooking oil, as well as breakfast.

I wanted to book something a bit special for my mum. It was peaceful, private, comfortable, well appointed and the surroundings and friendly animals were delightful 😊

it’s bit a way from everything so probably get food organised before your go.

it’s very spacious and clean has 2 bed room with 1 king bed and 1 queen bed host has also provided some eggs and bread and bananas for us to make our own breakfast. kitchenette is nice and clean. also a farm next to the place where you can feed alpacas
