Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomI took earplugs as I read in other reviews that it is noisy when the tram goes past - this is true so I was glad I had my earplugs but the tram does stop running for a few hours overnight.
We booked the superior suite since we were staying for nearly a week and it has ample space. Lovely bathroom. Nice interior courtyard. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location right next to a tram stop and there is a lovely coffee shop next door. Very safe area.

NetherlandsThere was nothing that I did not like. Some people might be picky about the furniture not looking too great or it having dents and whatever, but the place was truly spotless, so that's totally fine for me. Though...maybe fix the shower holder ;)
The property was big, with great facilities and wonderful staff. The person that met me at the door couldn't be more helpful and understanding while I was tiredly asking silly things that I missed in the room. Wonderful check in, the check out was also great, I could leave my bags there while I walked around. Overall a great experience.

United KingdomModern, well-equipped room in the heart of historic Alfama in Lisbon. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby and right on the route of the Famous No. 28 tram ride at its narrowest point with the trams passing under your window.

FranceThe room is not sound proof or light proof . The tram going past the hotel is very loud and the street lights make it hard to make dark the room. The fridge is also frustrating because it makes a lot of noise , this is exacerbated by the fact the fridge turns off when the key card is not in the key slot meaning when you arrive to the room and put the key in the key slot the fridge works very hard and makes a lot of noise to get itself cold again.
Nice , clean and comfortable .

CanadaThere really wasn't anything to complain about - everything met or exceeded expectations. It would have been nice if our room had been available when we arrived in the morning, but we hadn't expected that and they were happy to store our luggage until it was ready early in the afternoon.
The location is superb - right in the heart of the Alfama, with a wonderful coffee shop/bakery next door, restaurants within easy walking distance, and the iconic tram running right by the front door. The room was immaculate and very comfortable with good lighting. The room was well enough sound-proofed that tram noise wasn't an issue inside the room.

United KingdomLovely apartment. Well equipped, though there was no coffee when we arrived. Big bath with really hot water. The location is brilliant and beautiful. Bakery next door and the wooden trams stop right outside. Highly recommend the outside was the picture on the front of our guide book. Staff were amazing.

CanadaThe shower wasn't great, can't use it at full pressure or it'll rise up out of position. Tv had very limited options and was very small but who cares about watching TV. The garden is less private than it appears to be, everyone's windows look right into it, but it's still nice out there.
Perfect location, great housekeeping service went above and beyond. Would recommend the garden suite to anyone. Tram 28 service is super convenient, all of the restaurants on the street (went to 5 of them) are either good or incredible.

United KingdomThe furnishings were a bit sparse - just one sofa for an apartment advertised for four people. Tea bags were provided, but no instant coffee though coffee pods could be purchased at reception. Limited head room by the sofa and one side of the bed, which was known in advance from the photos. I still managed to bump my head several times.
Reception staff were very friendly and offered services proactively (e.g. luggage store, hair dryer). The apartment was large and had everything needed for self-catering. It was cleaned daily which included fresh towels. The location was wonderful, unlike some other reviewers we enjoyed being right on the tram line. We chose an apartment with river view, so on the back of the building, so we were not bothered by tram noise reported by others. There was a coffee shop immediately adjacent, and several restaurants and a pizza place just up the road.

United KingdomOur room was not the one on the picture, it was a bit dark and there was no access to the garden. The description does not explain this very well and we thought that there will be a common garden but as we found out, this is only available for the apartments with garden.
Right in the centre of Alfama, the basic double room was large, the bed was very comfortable, the temperature of the room was perfect and it was clean! On the 1st floor there is a lovely foyer with an open roof. Also just next to the hotel there is a cafe called Copenhagen coffee lab with amazing coffee and the best cinnamon rolls ever!

EstoniaA few minuses, which have not affected my positive impression, but might be significant for someone. 1. The perfect location is just above the legendary 28 tram. On the one hand- great impression, but too loud for those who have sensitive sleep. Make sure you take the ear plugs. Might be helpful 2. A bit dark. Though 2 large windows in the room, still not enough light. Both with the daylight and in the evenings with all the lamps switched on 3. The biggest problem for me was the shower. No hand shower, only the one with the water running on your head.
The perfect location in the heart of alfama, very friendly and helpful staff. Everything is clean, quite spacious, very comfortable mattress and pillows.
