Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomEverything was perfect. Will be returning with my husband.
Location: On a quiet square with some parking, ten mins walk from train station and five from the waterfront. Mini-market opposite. Lots of good bars and restaurants in town (don't just stick to the ones on the waterfront, Domino and Via evVolta were also great). The ferries to the islands were cheap. My favourite island place was Farol were there is a relaxing beach bar. Staff: João, Ricardo and Katia were friendly, efficient and so helpful with any queries. Common areas: Exactly as seen on the website photos. Everything was beautifully clean and stylish. Particularly loved the rooftop terrace and took a few cuttings from the large array of well kept succulents! The kitchen area, where the gorgeous breakfast is served, is open to residents all day. Great if you want a tea or coffee with a slice of homemade cake (all provided) or to chill a bottle of wine in the fridge. It was a very social area so great for guests to meet each other. All the rooms looked lovely. Mine was small, but due to the high ceilings and amount of light from the two windows (one with small balcony) it was perfect for a solo traveller. The bed was extremely comfortable, good quality linens with socket in easy reach and the lighting was good. Efficient air con. No wardrobe, but hanging space with coathangers. Safe provided in room. Bathroom small but big enough. Good shower and plenty of thick towels. Room cleaned whenever requested and to a good standard.

United KingdomNothing we weren't aware of when we booked but older guests may find the stairs challenging. However we are in our late 60s and managed fine.
Guestmar is a friendly bnb with a great offer and a superb vibe. The proprietor and staff made us feel at home. Breakfast was one of the best we've had.

United KingdomThere is some street noise, I would recommend light sleepers to bring ear plugs
Guest Mar lived up to the excellent reviews I had read. I had one of the smaller doubles and while the room is small, the balcony doors and high ceiling and decor gave it a lovely airy feel. The place is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean and had everything I needed for my 4 night stay. Breakfast was very good, I loved being able to have freshly squeezed oranges. It was great having access to the kitchen including teas coffees and home made cake. The owners are so helpful and warm and welcoming I absolutely recommend Guest Mar and would definitely stay again if back in Olhao. I shall miss watching the sunset from the roof terrace

LatviaParking, but thats nothing to do with hotel.
Very friendly owner and the rest of the staff. Lots of good suggestions for sightseeing. Breakfast was very good, enough choice, and with lots of fresh fruit and berries, and of course Algarve avocado's. Nice possibility to use home-like-kitchen for small snacks and coffe during the day. Hotel is located in old building, they used every m2 for it, but bathroom is little small, and because of situated in the middle of old town with small streets, parking the car is a challenge, but not far from hotel is big free parking. In general, very positive experience in charming market town. Hotel has very nice roof terrace.

United KingdomThe staff and owner joão were great and help you with anything you need. I had the room on the top floor which is definitely worth asking for if available as you have direct access to the roof terrace via your room. A great place to explore olhaõ from and close to everything you need including the train station. Thanks for a great stay in Guest Mar 😎

FinlandThe owner and staff were very polite and friendly. The breakfast was splendid. I count 11 fresh fruit or berry and I'm not sure was that all, not to mention the cheese selection. The combined reception and breakfast room was so cosy and heart of the house, that I'd like something similar at home also. Common spaces in every floor were something special. We really liked the style and how the whole building was renovated. We warmly recommend Guestmar and will request our friends stay there visiting Olhão and surroundings!

João was an excellent host! He made my comfort his top priority during the 4 nights I stayed there. The facilities aren't only comfortable, but are beautifully decorated and pristeen. The kitchen/gathering area is a warm and inviting place to spend time even when you aren't eating. However, the breakfasts were amazing! João and his co-workers put out a spread every day that would rival those of the nicest restaurants. The whole place felt like home.

VietnamNothing to dislike ... everything was perfect!
Just a perfect stay ... 10/10 for everything! Joao and Catia were both amazing, so kind, friendly and knowledgeable about Olhao, the area and Portugal in general. I spent a wonderful five days here and loved every minute. The beautifully renovated old house is so conveniently located in among the quiet cobbled streets of the old town and yet everything from restaurants, bars, shops, ferries to the islands, trains to Faro and Tavira, etc., are all just within a few minutes' walk. The guest house is very cool, tastefully decorated and super clean. My room and bathroom were both perfect, white, light and very comfortable. The breakfast is to die for ... a huge array of fresh fruits, granola, cereals, breads, croissants, pastries, cakes, eggs, coffees, teas, and I am sure a few other things I forgot! I will definitely be back again soon and recommend anyone thinking of visiting Olhao looks no further than the amazing GuestMar.
