The rooms at the top are quite basic and probably in need of an update. There are steep hills to navigate both of foot to and from the main hotel and also by car to leave the site.

The main hotel area is high quality a lovely lounge to relax in especially with the log burner on a cool night. The staff were very polite and helpful

It was cold at night, with no central heating during our first night. Condensation/ dampness can be a problem.

The hotel is situated in beautiful, peaceful and tranquil gardens with excellent views of the surrounding hills, next to a footpath that goes to a levada. Very friendly and helpful staff. A very good buffet style breakfast was provided. It's only 20 minutes walk away from the village and bus stops to Funchal / Machico.

It is hard to find what we didn't like. I can think of only one thing which is short shower curtains which causes water to splash everywhere on the floor while taking shower. Also I would suggest to get more flowers or decorations into the hotel rooms - all walls are mostly empty. But otherwise we had a perfect stay.

We chose this accommodation because we wanted to avoid big city noise and and it fulfilled our expectations - we really loved the quiet surroundings and beautiful nature everywhere. The hotel was very clean and also breakfast was very delicious - every morning they served scrambled eggs, fresh pastry, ham, beans, bacon, various fruit and vegetables, yoghurts, juice and many other. Personal was a bit struggling with English, however they were always very nice and helpful. One day we went on a trip early and they have prepared sandwiches for us and brought it straight to our room a day before, which we appreciated a lot (this service was free of charge).

A lovely quiet location with kind and helpful staff - I asked for an extra pillow and a hairdryer, absolutely no problem at all, efficient service with a genuine smile. Breakfast was really good, it helped when background music was played otherwise it was uncomfortably quiet!

The breakfast was cheap and boring. I informed them about my lactose intolerance beforehand, but this was not catered to. You can hear hear everything going on in the hotel in your room.

Needed instructions to reach the accomodation. Our Sat Nav took us up steep winding roads but there was a quicker easier way.

There should be clear directions as to how to reach the property. One side the road is horrible, coming from the north takes longer but its a paved road and climb is less steep.

The property is beautiful, with great views. Amazing breakfast and the staff is super friendly. The room was very spacious and comfortable. Its very close to Pico do Ariero and Ponta de Sao Lourenco. Great place for a relaxing weekend getaway.

The location of sign to the accomodation could be on the other way not only from the village. It was easy to miss the turn. The dinner was very good but it had a small portion.

We wanted to see the sunrise so asked the breakfast to be packed. It was not possible as staff only started around half8. I understand that. But theyápá offered to pack us a picknic food for extra money while we paid for breakfast we could not eat. This was not very nice. Other than that greatest accomodation ever.

The location was amazing and peaceful with views to the mountains. It was great to arrive after a long day to this piece of paradise. We were located above/behind the main building in one of the 4 little "apartments" (no kitchen though). We had a little patio where we could eat our food and relax. Truly one of the most fantastic accomodations I have ever been. Parking was behind the houses. Driving up to the location was tricky, extremely steep, narrow with lots of sharp turns. But it's up the hills so... Breakfast was okay, not a big variety but basic things.

The rooma can be improved, in one of them smelled bad. It will be nice to find some water when you arrive, at least late on the night and you don't find anything :)

The location,even if it was a bit remote,around 5km north of Santa Cruz, was a lovely villa surrounded my a beautiful well groomed garden,in the middle of nature. The property staff were lovely and helpful.

Absolutely beautiful place and surroundings. Breakfast was pretty standard buffet and offered hot and cold sections, juice, tea and coffee were included. We stayed in bungalow type room which was a few meters away from the main residence. It was bright spacious and had things we needed for the stay. Tea making facilities, extra blankets. Our room was cleaned daily.

We arrived at 9:30PM, and when I called the property they just told we can check in in morning next day. That was little bit inconvenienet as we agreed before when we will arrive. After a short explanation we made the check in at night, so there was just a little disagreement. If you arrive later, just make it clear before.

The location is on the top of mountain, so a small rented car really needed performance, but the view from the property is beautiful, the atmosphere of the property is great, there is calm and silent. Really good value for money, strongly recommend. The stuff is kind and very friendly.
