Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

ThailandMy stay was too short, only 5 days
The staff where exceptional and i felt they had a personal interest in looking after me. They made a special effort, for example I love good coffee and they ground coffee for me to use in my room, they bought yoghurt for me for breakfast. The building itself is beautiful. The location suited me very well, middle of old city, surrounded by temples and a view to the mountain.

United States of AmericaIf you’re looking for a fancy full service, corporate type of hotel, this is not for you. If you like living amongst the culture, it can’t be beat.
This place is a charming hotel, and probably the best part about It is the howling of the dogs at night all over the city. It starts with one dog, and then in the distance another and within 10 minutes there must be hundreds of them singing at the moonlight. I’d stay here again just for that.

MalaysiaThere’s nothing to dislike but maybe additional pillows in a different firmness level would give guests a choice between different pillows and therefore enhance the sleep quality.

AustraliaOnly things I would note are that the rooms are only accessible by stairs so may not be suitable if you have mobility constraints, and the breakfast options, while nice, are limited. However there are plenty of good cafes nearby if you’re craving more variety. These are more considerations than criticisms though. Overall we loved this hotel and would definitely stay again.
My partner and I stayed here for four days and absolutely adored this hotel. The old-style decor was really charming and gave the hotel a nice cozy feel. The were also beautiful views of the mountains and nearby temples from the balconies, which we loved. The location is perfect, giving you easy access to the attractions in Old Town Chiang Mai. We arrived on a Sunday and so were treated to the Sunday Walking Market directly outside the hotel, as well as some great music in the ground floor bar while the market was on. The staff were wonderful very friendly, welcoming and attentive to our needs. Villa Duangchampa was a lovely place to return to at the end of each day and made our stay in Chiang Mai all the more enjoyable.

United KingdomThe hotel is on a busy road so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper (we travel with earplugs and it was fine). I agree the hotel will need money spending on it soon, but it definitely did not matter for our stay.
This hotel really suited us. The bedroom and bathroom were huge, and there was plenty of light as there were windows on 2 sides. We always received a friendly welcome, and we even had help with our bags up the stairs. We loved the bar on the ground floor too. Excellent value for money.

United States of AmericaThe bathroom ceiling had a leak when I checked in. Dirty water dripped on my head when i used the toilet the first time. The hotel was fully booked that day, so they couldn't move me to another room. Staff was very kind and tried very hard to solve the issue.

I loved the view from my room. They were very receptive to my requests and changed me to a quiet room. The band on Sunday was a great extra. I felt loved by the lady who was looking after the rooms.

JapanWe stayed in rooms 9 and 10. The two rooms are connected, so the sound leaks from each other.
Good location, right in front of the Sunday market The building is old but has a good atmosphere. I knew from the hotel summary sent to me when I made the reservation that there was no elevator, but Tony came to pick up my luggage at check-out without me having to ask. Tony is very kind breakfast is delicious They also gave me some Thai sweets.

United KingdomA few bits a touch dated and some blackout curtains badly torn would be my only faults. Oh and safe not bolted down so can be easily walked off with. Hilarious.
LOVED the top floor room with dual aspect views towards to sunset and mountains. Balcony is right above the Sunday night market for soaking up the music and atmosphere. Very good location. Great layout and spaciousness that blended well with the furnishings. Overall loved coming back to this room each night feeling like a king in the clouds, and staff are very warm. Would stay again!

United States of AmericaI have no complaints at all with regard to the property. While it is an older hotel, it is that very characteristic that makes it so unique.
This is a unique property, a throw back to an earlier time and a property with all the character in the world. Absolutely loved the café/bar opening to the street, the live music every night, and the sincere hospitality we received

Spent 2 lovely nights here. An old comfortable place. Great aesthetics and details but it can do with a spruce up. It probably costs money that they don’t have. It’s going to be needed soon though. The edges are looking a little frayed. The bed is still comfy, the sheets are clean, they have proper balcony in some rooms. This place is located in beautiful old town area, perfect to start your adventure in chiang mai. I would definitely stay again.
