Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Only one of three front desk attendants were nice, personable, and helpful. The room had two windows, but the blinds did not block out light at night, so the room was pretty well lit all night long. Of the five nights, we were disturbed three because of delivery trucks backing up and people outside arguing.
The rooms were kept clean, and the bed was comfortable. We enjoyed having access to a coffee machine and tea pot in the lobby. There was always plenty of hot water and pressure in the shower.

There have been some renovations of the room, but the place seems dingy. Needs fresh paint and some new or restored furniture. Front desk staff did their jobs but were sloppily dressed and seemed lackadaisical.
Hotel has excellent location near metro and in a nice area near the center.

The soap products provided were really low quality. Even though I had a lamp next to my bed, there was no outlet to plug it in. The extra lock in my door was broken. Definitely needs a bit better upkeep.
The location was great, in a nice neighborhood full of cafe and restaurant options. The place is nice and clean, and the bed was comfortable.

The wifi was very intermittent, which I had not originally realised and, as a consequence, made me spend quite a bit of money in roaming charges. When I noted this to the staff, the lady replied "but you are not paying for the wifi".

Kitchen not open consistently, mostly for comedyclub which is on-site Places to eat just down the block. Close to public transit and the Capital Mall. The room was cozy and clean. The staff were very nice!

Noisy person above me. No boiling water for my tea. Elevator is truly an antique.
Vintage interior and location to places and events I needed to visit. Pleasantly surprised I had no idea when I booked what to expect as no one I'd spoken to realized your hotel even existed. Good experience and plan to visit again in the future. I do think the carpet should be cleaned.

Shower temperature was, at best, warm. WiFi signal in room was weak, but fine in hall outside my room.
Clean and quiet. I knew that I wasn't staying in a 4 to 5 star hotel. I knew that i had to go to the desk on the first floor for coffee, which was fine.

The entrance is rather uninspiring and needs a lick of paint but that is all. The wifi didn't work in the room but was possible in reception.
The room was clean and relatively spacious, with a good shower, a lovely view, daily cleaning. The reception staff are helpful, you can get free coffee in the morning in reception. There are regular comedy nights in the bar downstairs if you like the idea. In a charming area - Dupont Circle, full of magnificent and varied architecture - many embassies and historic buildings. Soho cafe on the corner is a comfortable friendly cafe for coffee, tea, breakfast, lunch and time to just sit and read the newspaper. Nearby is a fabulous secondhand bookshop - Second Stories. The metro station is no more than ten minutes away. The White House is nearby.

Excellent location, and as a budget hotel, this is also excellent value for money. Don't expect anything too fancy but it is cosy and pleasant, and the bed was large and comfortable.

Not totally comfortable dragging suitcases from Dupont Circle metro through the streets late Saturday night through the neighborhood.
Location. The staff were friendly and helpful. Pity we didn't make most of the facilities.
