Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The problem is that when I booked the room with Booking.com, the price of the room per night was quoted at $179.10, which is what I was charged for 3 nights of my 5 night stay. The 4th night was charged at $252.00 and the 5th at $342.00 without any explanation. I am quite unhappy that I was not told about this in advance either by Booking.com or the hotel.
The room and the service were good.

Couldn’t get a rollaway bed in a two twin bed room due to the room size. Bed not very comfy. Pricey.

Location, People, Art decor , Clean and good bed. Good coffee machine in the room
Great and welcoming service generally by all staff who are all truly exceptional. Typically Taj! You can’t beat them at that. Set menu and only served in the room till 9 pm . Kitchen wholly inflexible on menu. For instance they have club sandwich. When I asked them to make it a vegetarian club sandwich they said they can’t do it!! . Really I thought!. No freshly squeezed juices, Very limited (2) Indian veg selections on menu. Poha for breakfast and Paneer Makhni . The Room service wouldn’t allow me to speak to the chef. Not what you expect of the Taj but then they have adapted well to America to cater to the market here and what’s expected including by offering free coffee and pastry in the morning in the lobby. Same cup cake all three days I stayed. No variation . Was disappointed. I ordered hot milk one night with haldi and pepper at 9-10 pm and they obliged despite the kitchen being closed . Next day I ordered only hot milk and they remembered to serve it with Haldi and pepper. Now that’s the Taj I know!. Otherwise I had to remind myself that I was staying in a Taj.

I had asked for some breakfast crumbs to be vaccuemed and it didn't happen -- really no big deal.

Rooms, design is very old…..
The facilities / hotel / rooms need a serious refurb as you can get way better value for your money in other hotels but the staff is fantastic and by far the best I ever had in SF. From the valet to reception, restaurant and room service they’re all wonderful and should all be better compensated for their professionalism and kindness.

The ONLY thing that could have been improved was our bed. It was uncomfortable, and we slept on the floor one night. It might be time to inspect bed frames and support.
We stayed for 6 nights in a big corner room. Of course, the location was stellar, but the professional staff set Taj Campton apart, from housecleaning to the doorman. The bistro and its professional staff were an added bonus. Beautiful, calming interior design.
