To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The friendliest staff was a guy named Bill. He was super nice and sweet. He came up and helped fix our TV. He made the stay better.

United States of AmericaMy 1st thought when checking in was “does this lady even work here”. The front desk woman was wearing a halter top & pajama pants at 3pm. The parking lot & stairs smelled of urine & pot. One of our keys never worked. A bed with wheels on a hard floor is a bad idea, every little touch of the bed sent it moving around. You had to hold the handle down on the toilet until it flushed completely or it didn’t flush. $20 for parking with no security & people smoking pot in the parking lot no thanks.
The location was good for what we needed. I’m picky about my pillows & there’s were pretty good. The size of the room was decent, we didn’t feel cramped. The fridge/freezer were nice & cold & kept our stuff cold.

Remodeling, but thought more of themselves than listening to their guest. Took nothing into consideration that they were using old blankets etc. removed everything from room I spilled coffee and cleaned up with towels and the floors were dirty and they charged me for towels.

The staff were so kind, the location is amazing, and there is a free shuttle that picks you up right outside the hotel. It was also nice that they give you a continental breakfast.

PolandLocalisation wise it was far away from safe neighbourhoods. Our room window couldn't be locked and anyone could open it from outside. It wasn't the cleanest place I've been to saying it nicely. Toilet was broken on our arrival, we informed about it and got it "checked" after 6-7hours. Maintenance guy kind of repaired it but left so much dirt and toilet lid on floor.

United States of AmericaThe location, old door and windows make this a pretty noisy room. The AC unit was blowing straight at one of the beds. Since the vent orientation could not be changed I had to come up with a system to divert the air using chairs and a towel... not really what you want to have to do in a hotel room.
Location is great: 20min to Gaslamp Quarter. Room was new/fairly new and clean. Bed was comfortable. Linens were clean and soft.
