I slept in a dorm of 8. Compared to the dorm of 12, the size was comparatively smaller for obvious reasons but the smell of feet and sweat was more pronounced (because everyone takes off their shoes when they go to sleep). I eventually got used to the smell, but it was really bad the first night. Having allergies wasnt so bad since I was congested. Aside from the smell (could be a case by case), everything else was fine. White noise from the heater was okay too (but I knew that from the previous stay). Next time, I'll bring a can of febreeze or one of those plug-in fragrances. If I had to choose, I'd pick the 12 person room over the 8 person room, for space.

Been here before. Facilities and atmosphere are nice. Compared to the 12 man room, the 8 man room had blinds for each bunk to prevent light coming from the exit from hitting each person's bed. This was a good upgrade from 12 to 8 person room. I'd still recommend as a solo traveler just because of the location next to the subways. You can practically go anywhere. Staff were kind.

My floor (1) had a lot of what looked like trash bags in the hallways.

Even though there were a lot of people staying at the hostel, it was surprisingly quiet and ordered. Even at 8am at the showers.

The front desk staff are not that friendly. They didn't open the door even though I rang the bell. Another traveler had to open it for me.

I’d arrived before check in time and they provided a place to leave my luggage. The Hostel delivers as promised and has an incredible location, close to the metro station.

Some people are very loud and messy, but completely expected when staying in a hostel.

Location, personnel, place was very nice and safe for anyone. Everything you would ever need is right next to you. Has a laundry room also. Kitchen is fully stacked and clean. :)

The towels are mostly dirty and during the nights the air purifier somehow got turned off and the room had a really bad smell.

The location is really good, easy to access the subway. Beds are quite comfortable and lockers are spacious enough. Also the events and tours provided by the hostel were free of charge and really enjoyable, made a lot of friends.

Hot showers were a problem, not enough hot water provision. Fridges we’re over full, I found stuff in there from December 2023 so they don’t get cleaned out regularly and stuff is taking up space that shouldn’t be in there. Other than that I liked it here.

The fact that there were closets without a lock and it wasn't written on the website. Also, I had to pay for a lock if I wanted one.

The fact that the hostel is a step away from the subway. My roommates were a good company. I couls get a fresh towel whenever I wanted. Beds and toilets were very clean. Shoutouts to the roomkeepers!

Lighting in the bedroom rather weak and dim. Facilities are quite old. I’d hope there’s curtain over bedside, would do much good for privacy and personal space.

I stayed here at 2 different occasions, the first time was perfect, the room had an air purifier and good air conditioning (it was a warm February) but the second time it was a bit warm inside and the room smelled a bit sweaty.

Considering it is the cheapest accommodation available in probably entire NYC, it's actually pretty good. I found it perfectly adequate to stay for a few days. The rooms were quiet, all general facilities were available, the staff was nice and the place was clean. It also has a very convenient location, in a nice neighborhood and close to a subway station.

Windows in rooms cannot be open, which is very inconvenient if 10 people sleep there. Instead, there is a rather old air conditioning machine. Unfortunately, the week-long stay ended with a throat infection for me because of this :(
