Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe construction in our area was too much! Constant noise all day long.
Love the pools and the bar/restaurant. (Dukes)

United States of AmericaThe Restaurant and Bar were WAY too crowded--you need more places to eat in the evenings.

United States of AmericaOnly one frying pan. Self parking only due to Covid; the walk to the room from parking garage was pretty far. If you haven't been to this resort in the past, it is difficult to find where to go to check in and signage is bad. Stop and ask someone for directions
Very comfortable and clean. Nice L shaped balcony. Plenty of laundry detergent. It was our second stay at this resort; location is nice. Nice to be able to cook and dine on the balcony. The two bedrooms are situated away from each other for maximum privacy.

United States of AmericaThe only restaurant on the whole resort was booked out for 6 weeks (for dinners). Food options were extremely limited and going anywhere off the resort was also a huge challenge. It seems that Hawaii suffered during covid-19 closures and many of the restaurants closed down. Luckily, there is a food truck park within walking distance of the resort with some great options. The beach is beautiful but not tame enough for young children to swim in. Good thing there are TONS of pools to choose from.
Rooms were great, well-equipped, spacious and comfortable. Loved being right on the beach on a beautiful resort.

United States of AmericaLounge chairs around the pool area were basically impossible to get... but this was true at every resort in Kaanapali! Book a cabana 3 months in advance if you know your pool days. If you come back to the property after 8:30pm from dinner, then there are no parking spaces in the underground lot. You have to park out somewhere on the road... a little inconvenient. Also, when we first arrived, the king sized bed was awkwardly made up with multiple smaller sized sheets. Since Covid restrictions, I had to remake the bed myself once the clean laundry came in with the correct sized sheets 2 days later. This may be OK during a pandemic... but hope that's not the usual. It's a lot of money for no maid service. I don't know if it's due to Covid restrictions.
This is our 2nd stay at this property. The size of the living space (kitchen, living room seating, dining area and patio) is just spectacular. So spacious... especially, compared to the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas next door (our relatives stayed there and I was not impressed)! We were able to accommodate 12 people comfortably when we made Father's Day breakfast! The property is well maintained and the staff were all very helpful.

United States of AmericaThe beach wasn’t that deep and the ocean was really rocky. It was really windy while we were there as well, which is atypical compared to where we stayed before. We stayed in a studio and there were only 3-4 of each plate, bowl, cups etc which resulted in more dish washing than we would have liked.
We liked the four different pools. The property was clean. The amenities were updated and nice. They had hand sanitizer all over which was great too. About a $20 cab fair to Lahaina.

United States of AmericaThe reason for the lower rating is our particular unit was dirty, very poorly lit and lacked supplies. The showers looked like they hadn't be cleaned in a while, and there were dust bunnies in the corners. There were several food wrappers under the bedside table from the previous guests and the unit was very poorly lit. The kitchen amenities were lacking in both paper towels and additional cloth towels. In our previous stays the units came with beach chairs, this one did not.
I would rate the resort itself excellent. This was our third stay in the Honua Kai. It is a beautiful facility and great for families that want/need amenities that you wouldn't get at other condo type complexes. It feels more like a resort with the different pools, Duke's Restaurant, cafe/mini market. It is an easy walk to the other restaurants along the "beach walk". Across the street is a mini strip mall with a grocery store, casual restaurants and snorkel rental. There are also several food trucks set up in a vacant parking lot next door. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Having a concierge to help with excursions and restaurants is also a plus.

United States of AmericaEverything
Terrible service, messed up my credit card at check in and applied to someone else’s room. Took 3 calls and 1 trip to the front to resolve. Called 8 times to have towels delivered 2 times. Sheets on bed were not fitted and rolled up under. Foul smelling shower drain. Issues with the AC. Front desk only open at main tower and had to walk there for beach towels. Not very much to like other than Dukes.

United States of AmericaThere are 2 buildings. The one we stayed in did not have a front desk. So there was a miscommunication about how to do the pool towels and it was confusing for the first few days we had stayed there. It would be so convenient to have a way to get the towels in our lobby so we could grab them and just get in the car and go on an adventure.
Really loved this location. The pools were super fun for our kids of all ages. Will stay here every time!
