Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaOops, see above.
I understand that it was a special event weekend (Pebble Beach Concours). But the nightly rate charged ($450/night) was exhorbitant for the quality of the facilities (although clean, everything looked like it had been there since about 1965). Due to the expense, once we booked it, we cancelled all but the first night and found less expensive accomodations elsewhere.

SpainWe had 2 queen beds, one was comfy, the other was lumpy and made a noise every time you moved. The sheets were clean , but they had rips in them. The room was old and tired, there was quite a bit of noise going on outside and the walls were thin so you could hear the people next door
Within a short walk down to the coast. The room was large. There was ample parking.

United States of AmericaNo hair dryer. Bloody stained sheets that made us super uncomfortable we just slept on one side of the bed. Super stained carpet floors I didn’t even want to walk barefoot on. Only one elder asian lady ran this but she made us feel uncomfortable. Came back from dinner and we pulled up and were trying to set up our windshield blinds and she literally just came to our driver side window, peeked in and stared at us for a good minute like who does that? Boyfriend was super on edge because the whole place was sketchy. Constantly having people in front of our doors talking and walking back and forth loudly even past midnight. Fees were overpriced for a weekend stay so I paid almost $400 for two crappy nights that I could’ve used for a better hotel

United States of AmericaWell, this is a matter of style: the whole apperance of our room was like a museum piece from 1978 or so. There is even some kind of fireplace with stone deco in the room - that's why it's called Fireside Lodge, probably.
I have been put off by the numerous negative reviews here on the site. But during Monterey car week, we didn't have another choice. The good news: it is actually not that bad. Staff at reception is really friendly. We had a good stay, after all.

United States of AmericaEverything in here was not right except for the older lady who was very sweet and Steve the manager. If not for them we would not leave our things in the room whilst we took a walk in the pier. We came back at 9pm and trying to get ready to sleep and noises outside seem to broke and the upper room kept on banging/walking so footsteps and continuous noise until 11:30pm. We packed up our kids and left in the middle of the night to drive home. I do not recommend this place to anyone. I cannot seem to know such this kind of place exist.

ItalyThis room was misadvertised! It is not just a "lodge", it is also used for residential living. Once in the room, it took me less than 5 minutes to know I had to leave and find a new place to stay, on a holiday weekend. There was a broken lock on the door. The room key is a key for a residence (medal, old school). The lock had been hollowed out, so no way to lock once in the room. There was feces on the bedspread. Skid marks. The carpet was old and dirty with stains. The advertised fireplace does not work. From other reviews, none of their fireplaces work. The bathroom was missing light bulbs. The tub was moldy. It felt unsafe. When checking in I was skeptical due to the lack of professionalism. When I checked out, no one came to the front desk. They stood outside and ignored me. The agency I booked through did not answer their phone, and directs you to leave an email. Beware. There was no assistance.
There was absolutely nothing to like about this room. Please, read all reviews prior to booking. I cannot emphasize this enough. My hope is that my review will save another traveler a very bad experience.
