Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

The fact that everytime I come it is always something wrong with the tv, or no hot water or something

There was no refrigerator and the cleaning staff was not friendly. First night room was cold and heater did not work.
I liked that it was clean and coffee was available in the AM. Front desk clerk was very accommodating when I arrived late.

A microwave, iron, mini fridge. There were none. Smelled like old stale smoke, carpeting help hold the mildew odor.

When I first get there I was giving 410, door was stuck, then I get 405 and the ac didn't work. Finally I got 408 and everything was fine

I didn't like other customers staying there. They were loud and their behavior didn't make us feel safe. I didn't like there were homeless people lingering in the hallways. I didn't like our door was falling off the hinges making it difficult to close. I didn't like the stairwell smelling of urine. I didn't like the floors were so dirty(couldn't walk barefoot without the soles of feet turning black).
I liked the people at the front desk and the maid. They were nice and helpful.

It appears to be a property for many types of people. Drugs users, perhaps many people permanently residing there, etc In fact, while I was there a guest/ resident approached me for money after informing me that he’d been released from prison after 18 years. It made me uncomfortable. I informed the front office about it. They seemed to know who I was describing. I felt I could handle any situation because I had my dogs with me and could call the police if things got out of control, but I don’t know how safe it would be for a woman if she was alone for longer than a few days.
The front desk ladies were very helpful and professional.

The bed was rickety. Bathtub is an accident waiting to happen. Very very slippery. Had to place towel in tub to keep from falling. Everytime that I maneuvered while showering had to catch myself to keep from falling. Somebody is going to get hurt.
The first night was spent without. They kept changing the remote. So I didn't bother them anymore. I watch on my phone.

The staff was friendly and helpful
No breakfast was included. The location was great but had many locals hanging around the area asking for money and stuff. An lot of drugs dealer, too! But they didn't really bother me

The hotel had very noisy patrons. Doors slamming. Men yelling in hall past 1 am. Occasional very loud music. Don't know if the rooms can be made quieter. As a traveler it is important to get a good night's sleep.

Vending machines the only food and drink available on site (and no coffee machine or kettle in rooms). Convenient for Northwest DC, but out-of-the way for central DC (the Takoma Metro Red Line stop is ~15 minute walk away).
Spacious, comfortable and clean rooms, with free landline phone for local calls (for deliveries, etc.). Very good road access and bus service (on Georgia Ave. NW).
