Caernarfon Castle
Caernarvon is architecturally one of the most impressive of all of the castles in Wales. It's defensive capabilities were not as overt or as powerful as those of Edward I's other castles such as Harlech and Beaumaris (which indicate the pinnacle of castle building and defenses in Britain), but Caernarvon was instead intended as a seat of power - and as a symbol of English dominance over the subdued Welsh. asked travelers...

How well restored were the castles in Caernarfon?

Having gone there as a young child, I was amazed at how small the castle was, but great value for money, lots of history on view and stunning views from the battlements.
considering it was built in 1290's there quite a bit left. Lots of towers to climb for great views of the town and surrounding countryside.
The castle is a ruin which you can climb around and explore.
Well restored and exhibitions within. Great for families.
