The hosts are amazing and day trips to Obuse, Nagano and off course the Snow Monkeys were easy by train or foot. The village is small but charming and in a blink you are in Shibu Onsen. Would totally recommend. Shared douches and little ‘noise cancellation’ was what we were afraid of beforehand, but the place was al peace and quiet (even fully booked) and showers were very good. Finally also a great breakfast.

Guest House Raicho býður upp á gistingu í Norikura Kogen í Chubu Sangaku-þjóðgarðinum. Mt. Definitely the Private Onsen. Lovely guesthouse. A lot of spaces to hang around. Great kitchen and dining area. Clean!!

The hosts are kind and thoughtful and gave us very good advice for dinner locally and for our next destination. Best of all, the breakfast was delicious and kept us going all day. Our room was small, but we knew that when we booked so we were not bothered by that in any way. Aovely way to break up the trip from Tokyo to Kamikochi if you have a car and it is worth a visit just for the sake of being there.

We had our wedding at Stone Church, and since all the hotels near the church were fully booked, we chose to stay at the nearby B&B Hyochoan. Our entire stay was filled with warmth and love. We arrived late at around 9 p.m. because we took the wrong Shinkansen, but the hosts were waiting for us and even came out to greet us and help with our luggage from the taxi. Inside, hot tea was waiting for us, and they kindly explained the room’s features. In the morning, we were treated to a delicious and thoughtfully prepared Japanese breakfast. When we were about to leave, we mentioned we were there for our wedding, and the elderly hosts surprised us with a gift of a bottle of wine! Their invoice was also thoughtfully printed, including a photo of us taken during our stay and some local sightseeing recommendations. The house was very clean, with a spacious backyard full of greenery, which was an unexpected delight! For the area, the price was the most reasonable and fair. Highly recommended!

Oshi Ryokan er staðsett í Nagano, 20 km frá Zenkoji-hofinu, 22 km frá Nagano-stöðinni og 32 km frá dýragarðinum í Suzaka City. Amazing. Lovely owners. They treat you like a real guest. So loving and caring. Very good food, made with love and care. I'll miss that beautiful place forever.

Very spacious and beautifully presented rooms in traditional Ryokan in the middle of Shibu Onsen. Comfortable Tatami beds. Great to have private toilet. The onsite outdoor private Onsen and inside (male/female) onsens were fantastic. Loved the supplied Yukata and Geta for the Onsens. Key supplied for all public onsens through town. The owners were so helpful and kind, driving us to and from snow monkeys and to Yudanaka station for our train. Enjoyed the traditional home made breakfast delivered to our room at reasonable price in beautiful bento box.

Located in the Shibu hot-spring district, guests can enjoy indoor and outdoor hot-spring baths at Suminoyu. Massages can be requested and a footbath is also available for extra relaxation. The staff is lovely, the service excellent, and the food delicious. We went off-season so it was very quiet and peaceful to stroll around the little town and visit the public onsen with the yukata and shoes provided by the ryokan. The best one was the bath in the hotel though. They also offer a free shuttle service for the station and monkey park as well. We felt pampered and well taken care of at all times.

Peanuts House er í aðeins 2 mínútna akstursfjarlægð frá Nozawa Onsen-skíðasvæðinu og í 1 mínútu göngufjarlægð frá Onsen Kenkokan Nozawa-hverunum. We walked 15 minutes to get to the slopes every morning, it’s right next to the bus stop and close enough to the heart of town without being disturbed by lots of noise or foot traffic. Very peaceful. The house itself is spacious so while it was shared bathrooms, I rarely saw anyone in there at the same time as me and I loved the onsen/hot tub in the basement for washing! It’s a great value for money and was much more comfortable and centrally located than I expected given the price and the shared bathroom. Kimmie, the owner, even made us apple pie one day. Highly recommend!
