The character, the craftsmanship, lovely spacious room with comfy beds and onsen bath, very friendly and attentive hosts. Nothing was too much trouble for them. My husband liked the Netflix. Beautiful Japanese breakfast which was different every day. The location was good too. Near Higashi Chaya and Omicron markets with Machi-Nori cycle share point right across the road and buses nearby.

The host was really helpfull, he waited for us because we arrived after check-in time and explained everything we wanted to know. He also gave us nearby restaurant reccommendations and it didn’t dissappoint.

The breakfast was pretty good - traditional japanese that we liked very much. The location was also easy to reach by walking from the station. It was also in a peaceful location so that it allows diving deeper in the traditional japanese ryokan atmosphere.

We loved our stay 2 night stay in the private Onsen suite. The kaiseki dinner and breakfasts were delicious and filling without making you uncomfortably full. The private Onsen and bath were fantastic and overlooked the gorge. It was so peaceful and so nice to get up in the morning and just sink in and soak while waiting for breakfast. The staff were amazingly friendly though be aware that English can be a bit difficult. It is Japan though so this isn’t a negative. The location was great, out of the way but a very easy, leas than 5 minute walk to the main town street and entrance to the gorge. 10 minutes walking you can get to the cozy and beautiful gorge cafe, we read books, ate cake, and drank tea there. Was fantastic for a relaxing visit.
