Mount Aso is 7.3 km away and KK Wings is 33 km from the ryokan. The building was very beautiful, the meals were delicious, the private onsens were nice and we loved our room. We would have really liked to stay more than 1 day.

Minshuku Asogen, a property with a garden, is situated in Aso, 29 km from Egao Kenko Stadium Kumamoto, 38 km from Kumamoto Castle, as well as 38 km from Suizenji Park. The property is located 39 km from Hosokawa Residence Gyobutei, 8.8 km from Mount Aso and 29 km from KK Wings. The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. I can only rate this place as 10/10. It's what you would expect from a Ryokan, and more. Specifically, i'd say two things are better than other great Ryokan, the onsen (private suites with windows that can be opened to "transform" the main room into a rotemburo at will) and the kaiseki dinner, where chu-toro, basashi and marbled beef were on the menu. Apart from an extensive sake menu. Other than that, the owners / team managing it are super nice and helpful. Perfect place to enjoy before/after an Aso trek.

The ryokan is located in a geothermal area, with a number of hot springs nearby for guests to relax in. So homey and warm. Friendly and helpful staff. Super friendly for pet! Comfy bed and relaxing onsen. Food was really delicious!

Located in the centre of Kurokawa hot-spring area, it offers Japanese accommodations and free WiFi at the lobby. Free shuttle is available to/from Ogunimachi Yu Station and bus stop Kurokawa. The atmosphere was impeccable.

The ryokan serves Japanese seasonal dishes at its dining room, which features an open kitchen. Teahouse Warabe offers self-service coffee. A variety of Japanese shochu liquor, wines and other drinks can be enjoyed at bar Kura. Best meal service I ever had. 板橋-Chan was so helpful even she is not fluent in English. She even took care of my mum who has allergy.

Guests with a dinner-inclusive rate are served a Japanese kaiseki multi-course meal. The main menu consists of a grilled beef on a lave plate. The dinner was delicious, really enjoyed.

Situated in the centre of the Kurokawa Onsen Area and boasting a total of 8 indoor/outdoor hot spring baths, Nanjoen offers traditional Japanese-style accommodation with tatami (woven-straw) flooring and futon bedding. We had a wonderful experience at Nanjoen...the Kaiseki dinner was fantastic, the staff was kind and helpful, location was terrific.
